48 hours into no refined sugar products

Congrats!

In the past year or so, I've had to stop eating sugar past about 6 PM or I wake up with a NASTY headache in the middle of the night.

Cutting back has been easier, as my kids are very health conscious, and just won't eat it, including Christmas cookies. I guess they have a positive influence on us.

It is poison for sure, and keeping it moderated like Alcohol and tobacco will be helpful.

I am again attempting to strike a balance.I will again try eating peanuts at lunch break. Something better than spending $7-$10 on lunch, can try replacing soda with water too.... I operate machinery so, a nice sugary soda has helped me stay alert a few times. I can't be lightheaded or faint from lack of food.

Today was the first day back the New Year and I am trying to strike my balance, we are off to a pretty good start.

One more, before I have to return to work. I'm on break now.

Okay so.. New Year is upon us, and I am making an effort to eat better today. So far, the worst thing I have had is a bottle of Mountain Dew. That is a favorite here. I have to be on my feet and moving all day so I need energy. I ate some peanuts until my teeth hurt, which does happen.

For lunch, instead of eating nothing (which will cause fatigue and tiredness) or a Teriyaki (expensive and portion is not good,) I selected this.

My goal is to achieve some kind of portion control. First three days 2022 a rollercoaster, for sure. Trying to stabilize, create a calorie deficit, and feel full, while having energy. I also drank 25oz water today.

For gradual sugar withdrawal.. Was this item a good choice? Have to go operate and be aware of everyone's safety, since people don't look so I have to.. will check back soon.

Again, the goal is LESS bad stuff.. could have chose candy, Fritos, chips, packaged stuff, this at least is chicken, portion not the best but 340 calories..

Actually no if you look at several different sources honey and Agave are very different from hfcs.

More nutrients and less processed than sugar

Honey varies in its nutritional composition based on the origin of the nectar used to make it. In general, it contains trace amounts of local pollen along with other substances, such as:

Some research indicates that dark honey has more antioxidants than light honey.
Likewise

Adds an unnatural amount of fructose to your diet

The fructose in HFCS can cause health issues if eaten in excessive amounts.

Most starchy carbs, such as rice, are broken down into glucose — the basic form of carbs. However, table sugar and HFCS comprise around 50% glucose and 50% fructose (5Trusted Source).

Glucose is easily transported and utilized by every cell in your body. It’s also the predominant fuel source for high-intensity exercise and various processes.

Ate two free bags of Cheetos for lunch, but resisted every urge to follow it up with a 20oz bottle of Pepsi.

Back to work.
Hi ho, hi ho.. update. I actually don't feel like poop like I thought I would. Cheetos are not the best fuel, but I again drank water while working and did not go get a 20 ounce Pepsi.. I am surprised that I still have some energy.

Today's diet was as follows:

Breakfast, ~5a.m. was two microwaved beef burritos, advertised as 23g protein each. Ate them. That was breakfast. Willpower broke and I drank an 8.4oz Red Bull. This lasted me until lunch, as my last posts were just before I resumed working.

It is now the time of this post and I am neither tired nor hungry. I am surprised.

Last night, I ate a whole bag of salad with dressing. Then went to sleep.

Any tips on how to keep on this path of lessening sugar?

It looks like you're still pulling in a lot of sugar. What you're eating doesn't seem to be particurlarly healthy ...

Cheetos aren't great. Breakfast burritos - yes, they have protien but probably 20g-40g of carbohydrates each. Redbull - if you need the caffine, replace it with black coffee.

Salad dressing always defeats the purpose of having a salad.

I may get into coffee.

Straight black coffee has no carbohydrates and all the extra junk that energy drinks have in them. If you need your caffine fix, that's the way to go
I can tell you that my goal is a gradual reduction in sugar and bad things, however I may get into coffee because I know that the energy drinks are bad for you and I am becoming as Frugal as I can be.

One tip is to be prepared, popcorn, peanuts, and walnuts are my snacking choices with unsalted being the top preference but popcorn without salt is more difficult to find. There were many times when I knew I could fast for 24 to 36 hours, having a good meal with just vegetables, blueberries and chicken is what I used when time was over. I don't think I've ever made a 48 hour fast, but you get better at it just like anything else you practice.

I prepare my lunch meal when making supper, which lunch for me is usually breakfast too, as I eat anytime after 7am and usually before noon. Coffee can sometime delay that, or I may decide to fast until supper with an extra coffee or 2.

And just times in-between meals you have to be prepared for hunger so as to not be limited to sugar and high carb choices that are so prevalent. I would say drinking water never got rid of my appetite, but it can delay/defer feeling hunger in that instance when I need to be distracted until meal time. Going to clear some snow so my apology as I write this, a little preoccupied with that task.

One thing I used to do in college was buy a bag of air pop popcorn and a pack of brown paper lunch bags. Then drop some of the popcorn in the paper bag and staple it shut. Microwave until done.

Don't get the salt, butter ... with who knows what chemicals. Just popcorn done in a microwave.

The kind that was originally the Coca in Coca Cola lol?
That is a good question and I can probably tell you some what. maybe . From 1978 to 1981 I would make extra money driving out of the teamsters line drivers local 468 in the SF Bay Area Coca Cola USA has a syrup plant in San Francisco off of Third street and Close to Vandyke St. it is now a condo project, Any way back to the subject, I would pick up hoppers of C&H pure cane sugar from their Plant in Crocket California and on occasion I would go to the beet sugar plant in Hamilton City California or another beet sugar plant around Tracy California Both have been closed for decades. Some time in the 1980s Coca Cola went to High Fructose corn syrup ,the greedy Corporations over the decades have become producers of high toxicity processed products for the added profit

Read the ingredients they list the sugar and carbs[sugar] and do not eat or drink the stuff with sugar in it. Proteins fat and leafy and non starchy vegetables

I like the raisin, dates, and walnut oatmeal. On sale 20 packs at $4.
But each packet has 11 grams of sugar...crazy...
When you put it in a bowl you see the sugar separates so I just run it through a small stainless strainer over the garbage can and it tastes great and only takes an extra 10 seconds to dump the sugar.

48 hours ago I started a non refined sugar "fast" after seeing a video on youtube that suggested refined sugar triggers the brain in like ways as cocaine and heroin.

I love refined sugar. Loved candy since I was very little. I could and have ate candy for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I have found myself lately eating candy instead of breakfast. At Halloween, right across from my workplace someone put out a HUGE bowl of candy. The bowl had all my favorite candies. When at the office, I found myself going to that candy bowl more than a few times per hour. I also have been struggling with fatigue.

Last Thursday night was the last time I ate refined sugar products. The same night I watched the video. The person in the video said it can easily be a three day withdrawal. The person further stated refined sugar messes with ones brain. On Friday, I had a major headache. Felt better yesterday.

How crazy is that- refined sugar reportedly screws with the brain in similar ways heroin and cocaine does.
Did you ever get that big Mercedes running?
