3.5 Ecoboost cam lobe wear?

I have a F150 3.5 eco with 149500 miles on 10k OCI...so far so good.
When you build as many as Ford does, someone is going to fall on the low side of average.

Sorry for the issues you are having.

A fellow f150 owner reached out to me. He had the phaser rattle, got it fixed. He developed the top end knock that I am having. The dealer found similar failure, but the lobes were gone and sent metal through the engine. They put a long block in his truck. Another Expedition owner had the same issue with cams.

So, I guess more cases will start to show up as these vehicles age.

Remember, this is the Gen 2 Ecoboost used from 2017 to 2020 (or 2021). The Gen 1 used bucket lifters.
Again, slap a head on it and move on.

There's not so much wear there that you caused damage elsewhere. No need to overthink this.

Replace the head, put it back together, drive it. After a prove-out, if you don't feel like you can trust the truck anymore, replace the truck.

Yeah, that’s what I’m planning to do.

I am now wondering if i can pull the turbos and heads, and do a proper clean up with the engine in the car. It sits too low in the engine bay!
