Well it does have over 666000 on it...
That’s what I’m thinking…
If it looked like that 66k miles…. That terrible.
At 666,000 miles… Looks pretty darn good.

It looks like the surface hardening is already breached, so nothing is going to really save it at this point. An oil with more AW additives (higher levels of phosphorous, like an LL-01 lube) might have been more effective at preventing the wear, but I can't say for certain.Snapped a picture of one of my exhaust cam lobes with my borescope. 2006 Accord K24. 281,000mi. Have used 20 grade oils the entire life of the car except for my previous OCI, I used M1 Euro 5w-30.
I'm not really worried about the wear. Car runs great. Still get >32mpg on long highway drives. UOA's are stellar.
However, since we're on BITOG....
I wonder if this is something that increasing viscosity would help. Or, if an oil with a ton of moly, boron, and/or ZDDP would help. Maybe all of the above?

He stated he bought it 8 years ago as a daily driver for cheap. Why would anyone want a car with this amount of mileage? Is he going to put it in a museum?
It might have helped if someone would have touched these things periodically.

I was told that the clearances on a OHC get tighter as the engine wears.
This is the Legend (SOHC) at ~438k. Only the exhaust side is adjustable. The valve train isn't quiet but the lobes aren't trashed either.

Thanks, I've been impressed with the car. Went and snapped these just now. I'll pull the plugs soon and get pictures of the pistons.Looks spotless in there!!
I spoked to my regular service advisor who also serviced the car since it was new, and he mentioned that the previous owner had the valves adjusted on it regularly. It's not really in the service schedule. For these engines, Honda just says to adjust them if/when noisy. If the PO had it dealer serviced there is a good chance they had it done. I think it is in the service schedule.
Surprisingly, everything still works except the seat heaters. The leather is actually in quite good shape, and only recently started to tear on the left side bolster. No state inspections here. It's just my winter beater, but I hope to keep it going for as long as possible regardless. It's more comfortable on long trips than my Civic, so we do take it on vacations as well. The car is rusting so run it until it dies or really embarrassing to drive or fails state inspection.
The seat has to be pretty worn and likely many little things are broken or don't work.
I thought about it, but I'd rather just replace the engine if I were going to do more to it. It has stuck rings and burns a lot of oil, and would essentially need an entire rebuild. I'll keep it going for now since it still runs fine.Look into the cam job. Super easy on my ohc Mercedes diesels.
I’ll bet you can get some lower mileage clean cams for cheap, not dealer prices. The wild card is what else should be replaced in the lifter system, since something there is rough and causing some bad wear.
In the past on my Honda I would adjust them around 100000 miles noisy or not...I spoked to my regular service advisor who also serviced the car since it was new, and he mentioned that the previous owner had the valves adjusted on it regularly.
