With my mileage intervals on the oil, it would put my iron content of the factory fill at 13.3 ppm/1k miles and the second fill at 9.8 ppm/1k miles. So the wear has lessened over time.

I personally would run a 30wt if it were mine. Although admittedly, that's more for warm and fuzzies. I'm sure the 0w20 will give long life as well.

I have a 3.0 Duramax, have been using M1 ESP x2 0w-20. Doing roughly 4k mile OCI. I only use 0W-20 to keep the warranty intact. From the iron numbers I see on UOAs and how hot this oil gets in these motors I’d personally want something thicker. The Mobil 1 is a relatively thin XW-20 and there’s always additives sitting at the bottom, not giving me the warm and fuzzies.

I should have a UOA coming soon that I plan on posting. Hoping for a clean report.

I have seen reports of owners needing to replace valvetrain components at under 100k miles. That extra ferrous metal shedding with 0w20 is only coming from 2 sources, the liners and valvetrain.

Looking forward to this UOA

I just sent off a used oil sample of HPL's PP 0W-20 D to SPEEDiagnostix a couple days ago. Hopefully next week I'll have an analysis of it to see how it compares to the other DexosD oils.

I switched to Amsoil's 5W-30 100% Synthetic Diesel Oil, though. All of the UOAs I've seen of LZ0s using 0W-20 have never been all that great with iron wear.
