2021 Ford Explorer factory filter CUT OPEN

Good Evening folks. A friend bought this brand new 2021 Ford Explorer with the 2.3 engine in it. 4,400 miles on the factory fill. He drives 80-20% highway to city driving.

put some M1 5w30 and fram ultra 3614 in and on.

Oil looks pretty dirty for only 4,400 on a new engine. Must be that direction injection and turbo (assuming it's the ecoBoost 2.3L).
 
Looks like the factory switched from Champ to Purolator!

I thought they had been using Wix for quite some time now? Wasn't the damaged factory F-150 filter posted here a while back a Wix? And now with Wix becoming Wixolator or whatever Mann+Hummel are doing, who knows what anything is anymore???

Yeah, very true. As I said, I took off a 21’ Eco Sport 1.5 engine filter and it was wix.
 
Is the filter material disintegrating after 4K mikes? Looks like cardboard ... on the other hand Motorcraft oil seems to be a very good oil based on some engine pictures that I've seen recently.

I need to spend $60 and buy me a nice filter cutter tool. :LOL:

Not disintegrated at all. Pretty black looking is all
