Which oil would be best: Castrol Edge 0w20, Eneos 0w20, or Pennzoil Platinum 0w20?

My vehicle is on the factory fill with 720 miles on it.
I drive 5 miles one way to work, in town, so that is considered a short trip, I guess.
I would estimate 50/50 mix city/highway.
I'm easy on the gas pedal.
I've heard good things about all three.

My daughters' 2006 M3 is doing great on PP 5w-20 and annual oil OCI's. I don't see the need for 0w-20 in AL. Stick with the 5w-20 IMO. Also leave the FF in until the first OCI at least 5k miles..FWIW--Oldtommy

I agree with 2oldtommy on keeping the first oil change at ~5K-well maybe 4K. Too many dump the first oil too early and with it all the assembly lubs and maybe additives that are needed to protect the engine. You have a good oil filter to remove anything damaging to the engine. All the oils listed are A1 in my opinion. I run PP in my turbo CX7 but, any of the oils you listed would do a great job, if you just follow the factory recomendations on weight & OCI.. Ed

What I can't believe in those reports are the short OCIs these guys do with synthetic oil.

Well, my MZ3 with 2.0L engine runs the same on whichever oil I put in. I've run synthetics, dino and syn blends in 5w20 and 5w30.
I cannot tell any difference at all, my gas mileage, which I track on a spreadsheet for every tank, doesn't change either as an average.

Probably if I used oil in w40 or w50 range I would see something worth mentioning, but why would I do that?

Makes me wonder about all these claims on Mazda 3 forums raving about PP or other synthetics, as I see no difference

Oldtommy/Mazda3LA, Which engines are in your cars?

Char Baby, My daughters '06 MZ3 has the 2.3L engine. Blackstone suggested annual changes after ther UOA came back looking good. Oldtommy

I'd go with the PP.

That site is awesome. I hope they update it soon.

I think I will do this. PP sounds like a winner to me.

Char Baby, I have the 2.0L. Have always used either Motorcraft or Kendall oil on my car.

The Critic is right, the 2011 Mazda's require 0w20.

I use Mobil 1 0w20 in my 2.5L as it is easiest to find.

I have tried it all in my 07 with the 2.3L engine. Super Tech conventional to Mobil 1 5w20. I've also used 5w30 as well. Engine can't tell any difference, nor any gas mileage difference. I change it 2x a year with whatever is on sale in these tough economic times.
