If the car is in good enough shape otherwise, I would pick up another engine, re-ring & re-gasket it as cheaply as possible, & swap engines. I did this on 2 beaters years ago when cash was tighter-an '80 LeBaron wagon with a 225 straight six, & a '90 Honda Civic wagon (although I was able to re-ring it in the car, & had a buddy resurface the head & do a valve job on it). If the rest of the car is junk, might be time to send it to U Pull & Pay or the crusher...
