I was issued a high mileage work vehicle years ago that burned oil like crazy. I kept going to fleet to get quart bottles of Chevron 10w30 weekly to keep the level topped off. Someone there inferred I was stealing the oil for personal use so I said "Ok, I don't need your oil".
After that point any oil I drained at home whether it be from cars, trucks, motorcycles, mowers, etc went into old 5 quart oil bottles I kept in the trunk of that work vehicle. Once every week or so I poured in a quart of old oil. 5w-20 to 20w50 I didn't care. Kept that 'ol 4.6 Ford running smooth.
