It is a 2.7 diesel. My sister had it shipped used from Japan to use as a mail truck here in the states.
Can’t find anything in English to reference the correct parts.
It was called the Terrano in Japan and the Pathfinder already in the US then but there were no diesel engines sold in the us versions from what Im gathering. Curious if anyone might know what oil/air filter it needs?
Thanks

The oil filter is probably the same filter most non-Toyota Japanese cars use. The Wix 57356, Fram 7317, etc.

The air filter might even be the same one Nissan used on all their cars in the late 90s :D
Fram 4309, Wix 46116, etc.

Here is the catalog from Alvadi, based in Estonia

no part numbers on anything to help at all, some place in aus lists them and looking at and the thread listed as 3/4 looks like a 51361 wix or a Fram 3683 series which are standard nissan filters from the 1990's

A twenty six year old example of a drivetrain never offered in this country with no parts or repair infrastructure to be used daily to deliver mail?
What could possibly go wrong?
At least it's RHD so those mailboxes will be an easy reach.

Other than the 2.7 diesel engine and maybe the transmission? Its identical to the pathfinder of that era but yeah she could have done better to get something more common around here and install a kit to drive from the passenger seat.
To be fair to her, the car has incredibly low mileage and more incredibly it is in almost perfect condition, cosmetically at least. Like it had rarely been outside or something.

I was finally able to find the original filter number for it and cross reference it to wix wl7155 which is half the price of Henghst and Mann. Still about a $15 filter though lol.

There were factory new US legal Subarus offered to mail carriers through 1999, although they're rare, probably beat to death by now and around the same age as the Nissan your sister bought,
To be fair, I've browsed JDM cars now and then and it isn't hard to find one old enough to import to this country in nice overall condition with low miles. Price are very reasonable until you factor in shipping.
I've not pulled the trigger on one, but I could see it happening. After all, how cool would it be to have a Honda Beat?

Real cool. Pull the trigger and bring one in!

As for OPs predicament, ask your sister for a picture of the data plate on the door jamb or under the hood?

With the frame/chassis code, you can look up an EPC and cross reference all standard Nissan part numbers with aftermarket

Put the frame/VIN number in here, you'll have some idea of what you're working with

2/4WD? Manual or Automatic? Trim level?
I respectfully request a picture, I'm curious what a JDM R50 Pathfinder looks like
Or is this the Ford Maverick/Terrano cross breed?

You have purchased a vehicle with the most reliable small diesel engine ever made.Change the oil every 10k km and drive it like you stole it.Filters depend on the model number and year.Google the NZ Fram site, these vehicles are common Japanese imports here.
Cool thanks

She took a pic of the data plate on the door. Everything is in Japanese lol.
I was able to cross reference a filter from Wix through searching long enough online.

It’s AWD automatic . I’m out of town mostly but I can ask her to send me a picture.
It looks like this except black.

Looks like a JDM R50 Pathfinder as we got in the U.S
I'll still take those pictures if and when they come in, as that could really narrow it down
Using process of elimination, I suspect it's a PR50 frame Nissan Terrano from 09.1995 to 08.2002

https://nissan.epc-data.com/terrano/pr50/

Narrow it down with trim/transmission/wide or narrow body

OE filter # AY100-NS012
Hengst H17W20
