The owners manual of my 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car with a 460 7.5L says that it only takes 4 quarts at oil change?

I was told 68-78 Ford big blocks that were in passenger vehicles had 4 quart oil pans and trucks and vans had 5quart pans or bigger.

4 quarts just seems low to me and I need some confirmation before I drive with too little or too much oil.
Anybody have a idea how much I need?

I was going to use Amsoil's application guide because they tell you the capacities, but they only go down to 1980. I didn't give up however. I went ahead looked up the capasity for a 1980 Ford F250 with the 6.6L V8. I assume that's a 460 ci. They say for that application to go 6 quarts with a filter.

E D I T (41 minutes later)

Nevermind! That's the wrong info! But why Amsoil stops at 1980 I have no idea. RockAuto goes all the way back to 1921 for Lincoln.
