10 yr old Castrol Syntec FSX

Hi,

I have 10 quarts of unopened 10w30 Castrol Syntec FSX that I bought ~ 10 years ago. API Service SH/CD. M50356A5489 1350
Could I still use this oil? Guess I shouldn't put it into my
1987 Buick Grand National.....

That might be the spec for that year, 1987-SH. Some swap meets if you go to them may be a place to get rid of it. It is probably still usuable, but not worth the risk. Maybe use 1/2 to 1 qt. and the rest newer oil. Is this even 2 changes in the GN? do you know someone with a beater? Best use for this is air cooled OPE stuff, hopefully you have a few to use in.

10-year old Castrol Syntec. Save it, it's a collectors item, it's PAO based.

The oil will be fine. Oil is very stable just sitting in a sealed bottle.

Are you sure you didn't get the stuff out of a time capsule or something?

I'd use it as long as it's sealed. Maybe don't run it for more than 3K OCI, just in case.

Agree with Johnny - at this point, keep it as a collectors item. Maybe not all of it, but at least a couple.

If you want to use some of it, it wil be fine. We'd love to see a VOA/UOA on here, if you're feeling generous!

You might sell off some of it on Ebay, then keep a few bottles for a garage display collectors item...

Then use the proceeds to by an SM-rated synthetic...
