9 months ago I posted here, about some old oil I had acquired from the great AutoZone sale of 2017. This year I was back home more and finally got the chance to run it.

This OCI was done from January to June. Daily driver. Short trips, 0.5 miles to work and back, 10-30 miles around town, and multiple weekend trips of ~500 miles. The vehicle was kept garaged. Filter was a 2013 manufactured Fram Ultra, bought off ebay when those 6-pack clearance deals were still a thing.

Whats complicating is this 3.6r takes every bit of 8 quarts to fill. When looking for a spare bottle for top off oil on my oil change I went through the old bottles that I had kept from the last oil change (the one tested here). I found two empty bottles of Pennzoil Ultra Eruo L 5w-40, with 5 bottles of 5w-30. I must have inadvertently dumped in 2 bottles of thicker grade and never noticed.

Without the two bottles of 5w40 in this fill I'd say the viscosity would have been significantly lower and possibly out of grade.

Is 5W30 regular ILSAC? Seems so. Pennzoil 5W30 is almost 5W20 initially. Doesn’t take long to drop into 20.
He said he put Euro L 5W40. That oil doesn’t exist. Did he mix regular 5W30 and 2qt of 5W30 Euro L?

Ya, I saw that but I remember in the way back machine that QS was selling 5w40 MST (LL04) so I gave @GRWLEX the benefit of the doubt that there was also 10 yr old 5w40 Ultra Euro L. Maybe he mixed Pennzoil Euro 5w40 (LL01) or just Pennzoil Ultra 5w40 instead? *shrug*

I cannot remember they ever labeled 5W40 as Euro L. Who knows.

Looks like it was just Pennzoil 5w-40 Euro. No L.
