0w-20 direct injection oils

Greetings from Turkiye. Following oil analysis has become a hobby lately. However, I'm having some hesitations. My car is a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 1.5 Bezin with direct and port injection. The manual says max 2000 calcium. 6.7 tbn is required. Of course, Api sp and gf 6a... I can find these oils. However, it's hard to find pao-ester in Türkiye. Which one do you recommend? Amsoil signature 0w-20 (recently available on the Turkish market), Ravenol DFE 0w20, Shell Ect C6 0w20... I like these for now. I'm interested in other suggestions.

In your UOA, the Si looks high which could be why you're seeing elevated Fe/Al wear. Check your air filter for leaking.

All 3 of the oils you listed are very good. I'm actually surprised how good the Shell Ultra looks (on paper). The Amsoil SS 0w20 would be my choice of the 3 for no reason other than the data they provide off of their website.

The Amsoil 0w20 is a PAO/V based oil (maybe some III) with a very shear stable VM on par with the Euro oils. On the ROC they tested the shear stability of Amsoil SS 0w20 and it was excellent. SS also has very good solvency.

No, only; maximum 2000 calcium. GF/6A- API SP and TBN; 6.7

These analyses aren't mine. I got them from Russia and Poland. Shell looks good. The AI thinks it might contain PAO. But Shell hasn't announced it.

That's not a very consumer friendly requirement! How do stores advertise their oil?

Also does the owner's manual list any temperature range and/or other viscosity grades? Is this a turbo?

I sent you the Japanese manual. It's from 2024.... The criteria I mentioned were written in the 2018 Turkish manual... Gf-6a didn't exist back then. Mitsubishi acted with foresight and added a Calcium criterion. So Mitsubishi didn't consume alcohol. They only considered the possibility of LSPI. The car is turbocharged.

Yes, I live in Türkiye. These tests are not mine. I took them from oil-club.ru. I follow the active Eclipse Cross Russia group on Telegram. There are many helpful and knowledgeable people there. If you want to get tested in Türkiye, they may ask for 300-500 euros.

Yeah, I’m intrigued. That’s quite specific for an owners manual.

You can see it online, I found a PDF. And yes it’s strange, also strange is that it gives a recommended API license.

I’d probably use an ACEA C3 oil.

How does an average (99.999%) consumer can figure that out? Considering many don't even read the owner's manual.

You drive a car for 5 years, and in the 6th year you discover a feature of the car. Finally, I think Mitsubishi has its oils made by Total in Europe. I looked at the total invoice for 9000, but the package is standard.

I believe there was a recommendation for higher viscosity oil in these engines. I visited a friend from when I worked at a mitsubishi dealership (he still does) and he mentioned this. Can you find anything in Turkiye about this?

I'm always in favour of increasing viscosity when possible, but if there's a recommendation to do so from either Mitsubishi or it's importer I'd take extra notice.

I have a GM 1.5 T-gdi in my suv crossover, and I use a 10W-30 API SN with 2000 ppm calcium, PAO/ester and apparently no viscosity modifiers, and TBN of 7.9

The manual that's listed above doesn't specify 0W20, it clearly says choose the proper viscosity according to athmospheric conditions. You could run 20W-50 if you wished and over night temperatures allowed.

Still 0w20 base oil. Fuel economy. But some people use 0w30 or 5w30. If you drive 120 km/h, the rpm is at 2000. I watched a video where 0w16 Toyota oil was more gentle than 0w20 oil.
I change the oil myself. I change the oil every 7000 km.
