Yup. The composition is apparently very similar to the APO 10W40--high levels of anti-wear additives and no friction modifiers, but has a wider viscosity range. Several people on BITOG have posted car UOAs with what appear to be positive results.

M1 0W-40 will have no problems going 10k.

Check out the UOA section, someone just posted a 12k OCI on this oil.

Here's the UOA you referred to, in case anyone else wants to read it: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...;gonew=1#UNREAD

The 6.1L Hemi in the SRT8 is reputedly a lot harder on oil than many other engines, so while M1 0W40 might have been good for 12K+ in that Saab, I'll start out a bit more conservatively and do a UOA at 7K miles first. (Chrysler says "don't exceed 6K mile OCI under any circumstances--surely that is overly conservative, but i guess I'll find out for myself.)

If I were to go the 40 weight route, I think I would stay close to Shell T6 5W40 Full-synthetic. Aournd here I had seen it at Wally-world for $15.00 on clearance since they are changing the packing and ratings. But I think I prefer my 10W30 - it certainly has been working quite well for me.

Might want to note that the factory spec for this car is 0w-40 M1.

Not known for being easy on the oil, very rich tune even stock for reliability and knocking. Hence major fuel dilution.

Not a good candidate for extended drains.
