hey guys,

I just started using PP in my 04 Echo a month ago. Funny things is, the car heat's up quicker now?? The car has a blue light to tell you the engine is cold and when on the overdrive won't come on. Since i went with PP i sweer that light goes off so fast.. can the oil be doing this?? before the car only had the dealer oil in...any toughts

Maybe because winter is close to over and the outside temps are warmer...

Causing the car to warm up quicker.

PP or any other oil is not going to make the car warm up quicker.

Now, have no oil and some things in the engine will warm up quicker.

Actually Bill is correct in one sense - your car won't "heat up" faster with one oil (well maybe slightly, but)....but he is misleading in another. Some oils actually transfer heat better than others.

(I advise some learning about HTF's)

What I imagine, and I could be wrong, is that this magic blue light is connected to an oil temp sensor(?)....if so it would be explainable by the oil more quickly reaching the threshold temp by better circulating the waste BTU's in your engine.

OR it could simply be an artifact of cleaning some assembly lube or something off the sensor.

If it's a coolant sensor, well then something else may have changed.

well i did some serching and the blue light is probably a coolant sensor.
