    Has anyone tabulated these data?

Has anyone seen the UOA data tabulated in a spreadsheet? I would like to run some data analysis on the data, so if anyone has seen a spreadsheet somewhere, please point me to it. Thanks!

    New Michelin Primacy MXM4

I am very curious to see first reviews of this tire. I had Primacy MXV4 on my SAAB and simply loved them. My kind of tire! I noticed people's responses about Michelin Energy. Energy is not my kind of tire. It has OK traction and very long tread life but that's it as far as good qualities. They...

    Motul LL-01 specific 5W-30 or Elf Full-tech 0W-30?

I think if you look at UOA reports available on this site, you will be impressed. BMW HP 5W-30 works really well for 15k intervals. As good or better than any other oil I have seen. The fact that it is made in USA and uses Group III base does not mean it is bad. Of course, I am not saying that...

    Castrol Syntec 5w40

Use LL-01 as specified. It is specifically formulated for double-VANOS and Valvetronic equipped BMW engines. If you want Castrol, use "5W-30 BMW Synthetic" sold by BMW dealers. It is good, robust oil.

Why do European cars run heavier oil than us

Oh my god, I so totally disagree with you on this one. Hondas are by far the hardest to work on in my experience. Oil filters on the wrong side of the block, horrid axle design, confusing timing adjustments. Obviously Honda engineers did not have easy end user maintenance in mind when they...

Valvoline"H.M." : any users ? If so did you ......

It is sold in 5 quart containers at my local WalMarts. Not 1 gallon containers as you mentioned. MaxLife 10W-40 is the lowest priced ACEA A3 rated oil I could find...

    Liqui-Moly 5W40 Synthoil High Tech

I have used both LM 5W-40 and LM 0W-40. In my 1998 SAAB 900, LM 5W-40 was outstanding. Smooth, quiet -- great subjective feel. UOA indicated low wear rates for my 10k mile intervals. 0W-40 is not as good -- engine seems to run slightly rougher and louder. However, my fuel consumption went down...

    What about dino for BMW?

I can argue that with modern high compression engines, especially non-turbo, piston rings have moved quite close to the tops of the pistons over the years to improve combustion efficiency. This tends to burn oil and makes stuck rings all the more likely to happen. It takes a good full synthetic...

    What about dino for BMW?

I sorry, what's your point? If you drive in the city, you get poor mileage and your oil monitor will trigger an oil change sooner. That's precisely why it is such a good indicator. On modern BMWs the oil monitor actually tells you how many miles you have left until it needs an oil change. It...

    What about dino for BMW?

It is very simple, really. It does not matter if you use non-synthetic, semi-synthetic or full synthetic. What matters is that you use oil that has BMW approval. Meaning that it conforms to BMW performance specifications. As long as you see that BMW Longlife 01 approval on the label, you are...

Does anyone know what VWAG oil norm is spec'ed for the VWAG 2.0T FSI engine?

Pic of BMW "Lifetime" Diff fluid @33k vs. Virgin Redline 75w90

Another data point here. Rear diff fluid that I drained out of my Subaru Impreza at 45k miles looked the same as fresh Mobil 1 gear oil I replaced it with. Clear golden color.

    Oil for VW owners

I think PD technology rocks. It makes everything so simple. No high-pressure pump, no expensive common rail. PD is such an amazingly reliable and simple concept, I can't believe VW would abandon it.

AZ manager says synthetic kills old engines

Look harder. There are many more on this forum alone. My wife did a statistics term paper on this subject about 2 years ago. She had plenty of data -- more than enough. It was a graduate level course.

    M1 5W-30, GC 0W-30 or other for 04 Subaru?

You will notice smoother, quieter running engine if you use a non-synthetic 10W-30. Even though it says 5W-30 on the filler cap, do not be mislead into thinking that that's the required weight. Subaru puts it there to get credits for CAFE. If you read the owner's manual, you will see that 10W-30...

AZ manager says synthetic kills old engines

That's right, nothing in owner's manuals. But they did issue several TSBs on this issue.

AZ manager says synthetic kills old engines

Well, if you are talking about a Subaru, then there is no reason to use anything but non-synthetic. Subaru specifically prohibited using synthetic in their engines until only a few years ago when they finally reluctantly allowed it. The new SAAB 9-2x owners manual has a specific mention about...

    Lubro Moly 0W-40 try out...

I use LM 0W-40 in my SAAB. It has been good. I did notice better fuel economy and slightly increased power when I switched from LM 5W-40. However, engine sounds harsher and oil analysis shows slightly higher wear compared to LM 5W-40. So I reduced my OCI from 10k miles to 8k miles.
