    It's done! TL 6-spd Conversion

I agree that 6 spd are one too many, you only need 5 and a torqier engine, honda's I like my air bags though. gotta stop those SUV's somehow. And I thought TL's came with 6 spd's from the factory.

I will sacrifice my new Grand caravan to Q.S

Agreed, these days it's all down to the design of the engine as to whether or not it'll develope a lot of sludge. Even then it's more down to the intervals you use, some engines can handle longer ones than others.

What does the sulfated ash % mean?

M1 5w40 is 1.35% and my car runs great on it.

It doesn't need more cylinders, just a bigger turbo.

    Toyota owners "boring"?

Toyota driver? I think a one Jeremy Clarkson said it best. "Driving a Corolla is like eating flour. It's as interesting as the night sky when it's cloudy. In fact it is a cloud, a damp, white, shapeless lump. " They really have no character to them. However, that doesn't stop the Toyota...

    catastrophic lubrication failure, mobil 1

You guys wanna talk about someone blaming Mobil 1 take a look at this. http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/performance/index.html?bID=107017 Where's the proof that M1 to blame? Is there even a UOA? No, but it couldn't be anything else.

    catastrophic lubrication failure, mobil 1

You guys are all jumping on this kid's case, why? Where did he blame the oil? Where did he blame Toyota for his problem? He said he wanted to contact toyota, not warranty his engine. Seems like he's approaching this rationally. He's a performance enthusiast like myself, we'd rather beat on our...

Is 0-40 full syn the oil to end all oils?

organo-moly? huh? De Germans still prefer thick 30 and 40 weights.

Is 0-40 full syn the oil to end all oils?

Agreed, M1 5w-40 FTW. 0w40 is fine if you need a thick 30 weight, but if you want a real 40 weight then 5w40.

    01 SAAB 9-5 Aero 7K on M1 15w-50

I don't think you understand how thin these piston rings are, think borderline racing car. Poked around and found mine. http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=003092#000000 I did my best to get all the fuel out of the oil before I took the sample and it was...

    01 SAAB 9-5 Aero 7K on M1 15w-50

He's very sure he used Mobil 1, the car has always had M1 and before this change he was doing 3K changes.

    Greetings and a few questions

I've heard the straight PAO synthetic can cause seal problems, but I've also heard the Mobil 1 has a little bit (1-2%) of non synthetic oil to prevent this from happening.

    Recycling oil in my cars

I'm all for not wasting things, but this seems a little obsessive. Maybe a good semi-synthetic for your 06 until it's out of warranty?

    01 SAAB 9-5 Aero 7K on M1 15w-50

This isn't my car, but a friend's from a SAAB forum. The car currently has 42,000 miles and this is the results of a 7,000 oci with Mobil 1 15w-50 SL. Now this car does 50 mile commutes to work every day so it's a lot of highway miles. Also bear in mind that this car was originally speced 10K...
