I was doing some research yesterday and decided to just grab an EverStart battery from WalMart. The Plus (2 year warranty, 525 CCA) was rolled back to $75 and the Maxx (3+2 year warranty, 640 CCA) was $95 without dealing with AAP coupon codes for a Johnson-made AutoCraft. The pics on Walmart's site all show the EverStarts as being hex-capped Johnsons but in-store they all had flat tops and non-removable vents. So who makes those?
I've been happy with the Johnson-made AutoCraft batteries I've purchased over the years (this car, the wife's Corolla, has had two Silvers) so I figured I'd just get a Plus from Walmart and be good to go with another Johnson battery for another 4-5 years but 1) these were not Johnsons and 2) they were out of the cheaper Plus anyway, so I got a Maxx. So $20 extra got me more unneeded CCAs but a better warranty and got it off my mental to-do list.
But who makes it?
