valvoline, wide variety of good products, they have something for every application widely available, vwb,durablend,maxlife,synpower
second choice would be castrol and then pyb

Valvoline, at least it has been since buying a bunch on sale. After looking at the PQIA tests I might change since everything here is the same price unless it's on sale. I had used GTX for a few years and was happy too.

Me, I like any conventional on a rockin' sale. Right now I can get QS Green (Advanced Durability... ooohhh) or Valvoline WB for $10.88 for a 5L (5.25 quart) jug at WM.

Dino hmmm my opinion is the Motorcraft 15w40 in 5 qts for 11.50 is the best buy and some great oil. The Dello 400 in gallons for 10.50 is .30 cent more per quart but both have the best additives for great protection.

Castrol GTX. Engine was always clean. UOA's for it are great. In fact, sometimes better than synthetics. Good stuff.

Before that, in the 80's my favorite was Quaker State green bottle. Cheap and engine was always immaculate.

I bought some VWB for full price since I wanted to try it. I got a cheap stash going and just went through two runs of PP. I put the VWB in and the car seems to respond better to it, idles smoother, pulls through the powerband smoother and idles quieter.

This is only my second time ever to use this oil and I have several other brands on hand that I will use in my car before I buy any more oil but this VWB has set the bar quite high.

Also, It has some color to it so its easy to check during the beginning of its useful life.
