SOPUS oils hold a special place in my heart....Pennzoil/Shell/Quaker State

Also havoline (chevron)
AAP use to have Shell and Havoline for $2.99/qt everyday but recently raised it up to $3.29

Glad I got a bunch of havoline during the $12 5/qt + Purolator filter deal last month.

for me it was GTX but the 15 dollars is just too much for dino. I also like PYB but sadly even that is inching its way to 13 dollars. my next fill will probly be QS Greenbottle for 10 dollars. However considering that QSG is a deleted item at my walmart it will be replace soon. I'm thinking what is happening are the new GF5 oils are on their way out.

About three years, I put Valvoline in my beater minivan. It consumed more, but I noticed it ran better / smoother / quieter.

Haven't used Valvoline since. I'm talking oil changes to five different vehicles - oil changes at least twice a year.

Two months ago, I tried Valvoline in my S-10 pickup. It runs better / smoother / quieter.

Valvoline is now my favorite oil - replacing Pennzoil, which I've been fond of for years.

It does get confusing in here and I havent read where anyone lost an engine over bad oil yet. I just gave away a 73 Ford f100 pickup , 100,000 miles, had not change the oil in 5 years, but i only drove it to the dump and around town, had valvoline in it,,10w30, never used oil to,, go figure.

Valvoline is getting alot of praise, with actual details other than feels better. So maybe less is better, ther add pack leaves alot to be desired. Alot..

It's a well known fact that a VOA does not show everything that is in any oil's add pack. To say that an oil is weak based on VOA is unfounded. Acutal performance is what should be looked at and Valvoline performs very well.

If all brands of dino were free and I HAD to pick ONE it would be.........................pennzoil.

Valvoline is such a close second for me it would almost be a tie.

Since there so close performance wise i just buy based on price, that goes for all conventionals, and thats why I have 8qts of MC5000 sitting in the closet-1.99qt.

If I answered based on which oil I have used/purchased the most throughout my adult life, it would be Rotella T 15w40.

And that would be used as a PCMO.

Favorite is in the following order:

1) Any free API SM oil
2) Any near free API SM oil
3) Any low cost API SM oil
4) If not low cost, then high TBN API SM oil
