On straight dino I usually will drain around 3,800 to 4,500 miles.

On synthetic (Quaker State Ultimate Durability, SynPower, Edge, etc) I bump it up slightly to 6,500 - 7,500. This Mobil 1 run I think I will try to join the 10k club!

My shortest drain was with GTX High Mileage at 2,800 miles. I just got the Santa Fe then and wanted to give 'er a good cleansing so I used GTX HM on a short interval to get out any gunk the previous owner(s) may have caused. Runs great!

Filters at every change - with dino I use cheaper QS Puro Classic equivilants, with synthetic I use the Pure One or Napa Gold. If I don't have any cheapies I will use a P1 or Napa Gold for 2 OCI's on dino.

What about you?

Depends on the car but the ones in your signature should easily do 5,000mi on any conventional oil. I always do at least 5k on conventional, which I typically run.

On synthetic I do about 6-6500. Could probably go further but I only run synthetic in winter to help with starting, so the oil itself gets a healthy punishment of short, cold trips.

Oil filters are whatever is cheaper. Typically Purolator Classics (QS) since they're often a good price at Canadian Tire. WIX filters are gonna become common now that I found a cheap source.

With conventional I do twice yearly oil changes in the cars, which works out to about 6,000-7,000 miles. In the pickup I change it once a year, which is only a couple thousand miles. I change the filter at each oil change, and usually use Baldwin filters. I use whatever name brand oil is on sale when I purchase it, this time it was Valvoline Maxlife. Both cars are driven nearly all highway miles at 55-65 mph.

Both cars have about 120,000 miles on them.

I've never used synthetics.

What about me? Pretty similar intervals give or take. Age of the oil is more of a concern than miles on some of my vehicles though, and I always use the same brand/type filter (per engine) no matter what.

I'm also going for a 10k OCI in my E36 commuter car using synthetic, but without having done any used oil analysis on this car (or the oil blend I'm using) I may just chicken out at like 8k.

You can probably even go more than 5-6k on conventional oil but I personally wouldn't without taking baby steps and getting used oil analysis to verify the oil condition. Also has a lot to do with how the vehicle is used, environmental conditions, etc.

5,000 miles Dino in my now departed 93 Aerostar.
1 Year synthetic in my E-150.
6 months to 1 year on synthetic in my 08 Liberty.
Dino OCI to be determined in my 00 Century, I'm leaning towards 4,000 miles.

I run the tar out of my Regal. It gets 6 months changes regardless of syn or dino with Pureone filters. In the past on my previous Regal this equated to 4500-4800 miles and oddly the OLM would hit 0% within days of the 6 month mark.

I don't how this current Regal's OLM is programmed yet. It hasn't ran down to 0% yet. However it will get 6 month changes.

I like to do 4K on conventional oil and 5-6K on synthetic labeled oils.
I don't use much other than synthetic, although I've got a couple of cars on Maxlife Nextgen at the moment, which is a blend.
I hope that dnewton doesn't see this!
Seriously, in the used oil analysis I've done, I don't see a lot of support for 7.5K drains with any oil in our cars as we use them.
I should add that most of our use falls into pretty easy miles, with the cars driven a decent distance on a typical cold start, not short tripped.
OTOH, if I never did used oil analysis and had no awareness at all, I'd probably just run 7.5K drains on conventional oil, and my engines would still be fine when the rest of the car was ready for the crusher.
There is also some support for the position that wear metals per 1K are lower on longer drains, up to the service life of the oil, which may be way longer than I think it is.
It can probably be fairly said that it is optimal for both cost and wear to run any oil to the end of its service life.
The only debate would be about where that limit is.

4,000 ish on Dino or one year.
5,500-6,000 on syn or one year.
((with the disclaimer, there is always a exception))

my opinion is subject to change depending on the variables of our autos and what we do with them.

On the the daily drivers one year synthetic, range will vary from 6K mi to maybe 9K mi...

I run dino's mostly and at 5k. The HM blends we also run I'd be comfortable at 6 to 7.5k but not without a used oil analysis peek at things first. Working on it.

6 month oci. 10/1 and 4/1. Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20. about 3750 miles each oc. 125,000,'02 Accord V6,runs like new.

Try for 8,000 miles on conventional. 270,000 miles and runs like new.

Other is 6mo or 7500 miles on Conventional since its still under warranty.

And the truck sees one a year with conventional. Filter gets change every other OCI.

Bill

Last time with AME it was 15K with a filter change and top up @ 7500...

With conventional (or semisyn it's 4-6K) depending on which vehicle and how many years it has been since the last change.

Cheers!

18-20K kms on synthetic - depending on how much city driving vs highway -wife's car. (that's 10k-12k miles)

10K kms on conventional on my work truck. this one will cross 400K kms this year. (around the 7000 mile mark)

Happy holidays!
