I think you're being generous - litre is correct!

We could have an entire thread on spelling differences between the US and the rest of the world... and perhaps use of the metric system!

The Kwik Trip chain of gas stations-convenience stores (based in La Crosse, WI) also sells milk and orange juice in bags. So some of us in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa (maybe further) have seen such a device and its use.
