Yellow jackets

Make sure of the spiecies your trying to kill.

I bought one of those yellow jacket traps because I mis-ID'ed paper wasps as yellow jackets.

"How come this thing isn't trapping anything??"

Wasps are great if you're trying to grow food. I once saw a hornet carrying away a full sized caterpillar.

Hmph. You should see a cicada killer wasp carrying away a screeching cicada through the air. THAT's a sight.

A mother figthing hornit stung my wife on her lower leg when she was mowing the lawn a cuple months ago!! At first she thought it was just a hummer, but hummers don't attack you. I didn't have any ice and packed her leg in some Haagen Dasz instead. LOL Now Im the one whose mowing the lawn every weekend. I always keep a carpet beater handy just in case. Last weekend I almost clobbered a hummer lol!!!

Saw one in the "wild". Thought it was a Japanese Hornet.

I was out most of the day. Late afternoon I tried some of the foam stuff I picked up. Seemed to kill many of the ones buzzing around, but in a few minutes more showed up. Left the vacuum run until after dinner. Must of killed hundreds with it yesterday. later after it cooled down, I loosened the screw opening the hole again and gave it a good shot of foam, and also some other openings they were buzzing around. More news tomorrow.

Yes, that nest is going. The only question is how much work.

When I was a kid there was a nest just inside one of the soffit vents at my folk's house.

I remember sitting outside one afternoon for HOURS with my Benjamin pellet pistol picking them off as the came and went. I must have killed several dozens of them before Dad came home. After he killed the nest, he made me pick out all the "misses" from around the vent hole.
