No problem at all Austin! I agree, Rotella appears to be doing a great job for your new Moto, and I too am interested in this new syn. blend 15W40 that's making its debut! The main question I have is whether or not it'll be worth the additional cost in comparison to the original. This new version being a syn. blend will probably be a blend of base II and either base III/III+ depending on whether they use a synthetic hydrocracked base oil (III), or dip into their supply of GTL base stocks (III+). Given we don't know what percentage of synthetic base stocks will be utilized, in theory we should be able to expect a higher viscosity index, increased oxidation stability, reduced volatility, and lower pour point which are desirous factors, but from the bulk of UOA's these tend not to be large factors, especially since most UOA's are well within wear condemnation limits, strong remaining detergents/TBN, insolubles, flash point, etc.
From what I've seen many UOA's look very solid, with shear stability being the more common factor/issue; especially in motorcycle applications. How much more shear stable (if any) will this new formula be than the original base II Rotella 15W40 (which is extremely shear stable in and of itself) is my biggest question, especially if it's more capable in this respect longer OCI's could be used as long as the other remaining factors are within check.
