Interesting class action settlement against GM that the CP4 used in their diesel trucks was not designed for north American fuel. GM quit using the CP4 some years ago. iIRC Ford still uses the CP4 for all its diesel trucks.

The CP4 concerns have made me a subscriber to buying supplemental fuel additives (lube) to my diesel fuel at every fill up.

It's not just GM that used the Bosch CP4 pumps. You may recall that RAM (and Jeep) used it on the Ecodiesels as well.

There is an updated version of the pump which is supposed to be less likely to grenade, the replacement is still going on. Mine has gotten the new pump already.

Your post is the first I have heard is that a revised CP4 pump that is less prone to grenading is being manufactured.

How much ends up in the pockets of LML owners that had gm dealers pour water in their tank and blacklist their warranty 12 years ago, probably much less.

For my recent purchase I factored in the price of a DCR conversion into all the powerstrokes I looked at. Ended up buying a Ram CP3 truck (in many ways an inferior truck) largely with that in mind.

Ford the 6.7 fords there is a DCR pump conversion available that climates the CP4. It’s been tested with water in fuel with no concerns to the pump. Much different design. I have it installed on my own truck.
