Michelin makes some great tread compounds. Xice3, CrossClimate, and now this truck CrossClimate all top products. Interesting tread shape on the passenger tire version of the CrossClimate, similar to the truck version:

Couldn't possibly be any worse than the Hankook MTs that come on them new, in snow & ice-the Hankooks might be the worst bad weather LT tires I've ever driven on! I'm sure they'll be pricey, though, $300 each wouldn't surprise me.

Looks loud and not any sipes?? Well for years michelin had great performance out of really generic looking tread patterns.. Now we have AG/tractor tire pattern?? lol

Sipes are there on the passenger tires, making it a great wet traction tire. Slanted sipes, a couple on the shoulders, main thing is to pump out water ....Truck versions are probably fine too. Tire Rack:

While I see the sipes I am interested in how they are going to get great winter traction on ice and packed snow out of that tread pattern.. my guess is some magic in the tread compound. IF you look at other all-weather tires you will see sipes.. Single lines on treadblocks are pretty anemic The LT Tire PHOTO (not C-metric directional tire) looks abit more interesting... and less like my bar tires on the tractor. Cooper's All-weather truck tire the AT/W-- now that is some sipes for winter traction

The GY Duratrac has been out for several years now. It has the 3PMS rating since day one. They were awesome on my Colorado in all weather conditions - dry, wet, and snow. I can see UPS, FedEx(company-owned Express, not Ground) and some of the better national fleets of vans like AT&T and Verizon specing these for their Transits and Promasters. And there's guys who own Sprinters and 4WD Transits as adventure vans who will pay the $ for a tire other than Conti Vancos or BFG KOs.

Thanks for your picture post. Ever notice how the Michelin LTX tires' sipes are very deep, down to at least wear-bar depth? To me, that means outstanding traction throughout the life of the tire. I don't see this on other mfgr's tires, or that of the new CrossClimate. Or, maybe it's just me...

As a frequent buyer of Michelin Pilots I must comment that we drivers should be cautious about drawing too much info out of a tread pattern. Even when summer Pilots are worn down to near bald they have heroic wet traction. It obviously has little to do with sipes...
