I'd feel fine using this oil in our older cars, like the '99 Legacy AWD, the '94 E350 and the '01 Focus. If there's any 10W-40 or thicker, it could find a home in my old BMW.
I'd also be inclined to share this stuff with buddies who are either impecunious or who drive old cars. This stuff would also be fine as top-off oil for those who have burners/leakers.
Back in the eighties these were the oils we used. API SJ was current up through the late nineties, so most of us have probably used it.
Oddly enough, our engines remained clean and lived long lives although most of us did pretty short drains.
That would be no problem with free oil.

Definitions of "clunker" vary.
Any one of us might just be driving one.
I know that I am.
