Well first time for everything

I went to O Reilly's and got a special of Mobil Super Synthetic and Wix oil filter. It's the regular Wix filter not the XP. The filter seems to be of stout construction. No surprise there. It weighs almost has much has the Fram Ultra I have too.
I am quite confident that the Wix filter can be good for at least 6k miles. If not 10k miles. So how long do y'all run them on your cars and trucks? Thanks a lot for insights and experience.

Cool deal. I run my car hard at times. Short trips a decent amount of the time. But I also drive longer trips for 40 to 60 miles 5 days a week too. So it obviously gets up to full operating temp too. These VQs are known to be hard on oil. The motor has been very well taken care of by first owner and myself too. I look inside of fill hole and what I can see looks really good. No varnish at all

My LS400 FCI is 1 year about 16-20k miles. The filters were mostly low end to mid-range, from Fram Extra Guard to STP to Motorcraft ... Actually, all my car's FCI were 1 year. Mileage was varying from 5k in S2000 to 20k in LS400.

Well that's interesting. Can't argue with success with the LS400. That car has rolled very well and for a long time. Impressive indeed man. Thanks a lot.

This exactly. I'd use them for any OEM OCI and then some. Back in the late 1970s to the mid 1990s, they were used exclusively in the taxis, with 6000 mile OCIs on conventional.

I've run them out to 15k miles; no issues upon dissection, UOA, etc. I run them at 3 year intervals in my low-use equipment as well. Never a problem.

10k miles in a typically sound application should present no issues whatsoever.

If Im not affraid my engines would start dislodging alot of crud - rare possibility even - Id run for at least 10k, even with Ocods. 15k is a good average for me. My father used to run 30k miles on Ocods in the 70s and 80s and sold his cars with about 100k, still working fine. Just the fuel filters acted up with very hard starts, dad having to tap it on the floor to remmember him to change it, what was a fun to see. He always bought new cars like Charger R/T and Maverics GT 302, but was really relaxed on maintenance.

I use Wix filters on my 2007 Accord V6. I routinely change them at the second oil change (as recommended by Honda) which would generally be about 16,000 Km (= 10,000 miles). Haven't had any problems.

I'm currently at 6000 mi (1000 mi into second OCI) and 13 months on a Wix.
Will cut it open and post photos at 10,000 mi and ~20 months.

Thanks a lot dnewton3. Well that's it then. I'm going to run this badboy for 15k miles. What I noticed right away was the weight of the Wix was substantial. Very similar to the Fram Ultra in that regard. This is even better because with the Fram Ultra I have and now this Wix I have oil filters covered for a yr. I drive 28k miles a year so this is all I need. Any oil filters I get from deals and I donate to the Re-Store which takes money made from donations to help build homes for people. I will say that for only an extra $2 for a Wix filter with that deal from O Reilly's is a very good deal indeed.

And thank you to everyone else to who helped out with your answers and experience. I appreciate you all

You drive 28-30k miles a year you should try Mobil 1 Extended Performance with Fram Ultra and do 6 month OCI/FCI. Wix can do 14-5k miles but Fram Ultra will gives a little extra margin.

Yeah I am liking the Mobil Super Synthetic I'm running now. I like doing stuff for my car so its no real burden at all. I like getting under it go assess anything out of sorts.. CV joints, serpentine belt, and if there are any leaks. But you are right in that going longer with Mobil EP or Castrol w titanium and a Fram Ultra would work great for that length of times/miles. I put the Ultra on there today for the winter ahead.
