This may be my last wix filter I purchase, its sad when a $3.10 filter made in Vietnam has better overall quality.

I never bought or really knew about premium gaurd till just recentlyI’d never buy a WIX over Premium Guard. That’s just foolishness

When M+H buys a company they slowly go through the whole catalog of filters and ruin them. The only good M+H filters are the ones they haven’t ruined yet. Yes, I hold a grudge as a former Wix user for 20+ years.
Obviously M&H is having big quality control issues, it is best to steer clear of their products until they get it together.
Just recently found a defective fram ultra xg2 out of my stash, the leaf spring in the bottom was weak or installed wrong. I found that out when I did my "shake the heck out of it test" to make sure the filter was assembled right. Thats the first filter I've found to be loose internally in my 4 years of shaking filters. I will cut and post that filter when I get back to the shop this weekend or next.Makes you wonder how many defective filters are out in the wild. BITOG users are such a small population yet the incidence rate of faulty filters here seems quite high
I think manufacturers are rolling the dice on cost cutting vs warranty claims
I ordered it online and don't wanna deal with the hassle for $9, I'm going to keep it on the shelf as an example.Without knowing purchase details, I'd assume the topic filter will be returned for a refund. Seems like some poor QC and an example of why where possible, pre-purchase inspection is best practice.
Yea considering a lot of defective M&H filters are popping on here I would expect it to be much greater, this quick lube shops aren't inspecting filters, most DIY people aren't inspecting filters and while I never like to defend quick lube shops in this case they shouldn't have to there should be a solid QC system in place at the manufacturing facilities which in this case it does not seem so.Makes you wonder how many defective filters are out in the wild. I swear by it! My dad thinks I'm being overly picky cause it usually takes me a solid minute to do my filter inspection before installation but It makes me feel better
It seems to me the most solid filters on the market is FRAM Endurance and Champ, it is not very often someone posts an issue with these filters.
I found an Endurance at Walmart with loose guts when shaking it. Closer inspection showed an obvious dent in the dome end, so it probably got dropped somewhere along the line. Showed the guy in the automotive dept and he took it off the shelf.Just recently found a defective fram ultra xg2 out of my stash, the leaf spring in the bottom was weak or installed wrong. Likely got dropped somewhere along the line. The bigger OG Ultras were prone to this, the leaf spring isn't strong enough. Slipped out ADBVs can also result, the media is pretty heavy & the spring can't handle the shock. I had an eBay 6-pack XG5 rattle without any visible dents.Just recently found a defective fram ultra xg2 out of my stash, the leaf spring in the bottom was weak or installed wrong. Fwiw, I agree they seem well made. Now, if Denso FTF would update their website info to accurately show them using a nitrile adbv, not silicone, I'd feel better about the product. It's been years since they moved coo and made the change.I want to say Denso FTF filters still seem like well made filters, despite being made in China. Not sure if I've ever seen a defective one posted here, although they may be less popular.
