I have been using the Honda OEM (Filtech Inc.) for my 2005 Odyssey mainly because the Wix version was NOT available and had to be ordered.

The other day, I finally had the guys at the store order one from the 'system'.

I picked it up today and was abit disappointed:

1. Packed in a plain brown box with a simple Wix sticker.
2. One sticker stating 'Made in Korea 06-05' on the side, nothing more, no other markings.
3. Very light and plastic feeling. (yes they are all made of plastic) The OEM Filtech has to weight twice as much.
4. Looks like you can see right through the pleats. Media seems very light compared to Filtech Inc. filter.

Cost is only a dollar or so less than the dealer.

Fram, Pure and others do not even list a part number for the 2005+ V6 so I have nothing else to compare with.

I will note that I am wondering in fact if the OEM filter is too restrictive, or gets that way too soon.

Hope Pete C. might be able to me something or tell me to get a life.

Paul,

Thank you for contacting AMSOIL with your concerns.

In response to your inquiry, the Honda and Toyota applications are the next air filters to be released, however, at this time we do not have a specific time frame for when that will be. Best outlook is Fall time this year.

Thank you again for the opportunity to respond to your concerns. As always, please feel free to contact us again if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

AMSOIL Technical Service

Fall of this year.

Guess it is the mystery Wix or the OEM Filtech Inc. till then.

btw: I left the old Filtech filter that I had replaced sitting accross that plain brown paper box the Wix came in ...... its been sitting there for these past few weeks......
The brown box now has a HUGE oil like stain on it!!
I had mentioned before that the OEM filter was sealed in a bag and had a very STRONG smell to it... Wow, talk about treated.
I don't know what to make of this discovery. I think I like my mystery Wix better.

Kinda explains the weight difference don't it. Oiled media VS. non oiled media, Plastisol seals VS polyurathane seals.

No - that was Fall 2006.

I installed the WIX - AF in the Honda. The media looked identical less the oil. The old one smelled of fuel. Pretty darn nasty.

The new WIX was constructed the same as the Filtech. Fit perfect. I like the ODY airbox with the hexhead threaded fasteners for clampage. No silly clips.
