Yep. The original factory wipers on our Sienna lasted two years and were dead quiet the whole time (replaced them because they started "smearing"). I replaced them with Anco 31's, which continually and loudly chattered starting from the very first wipe. After almost a year of putting up with the chatter, I went to the Toyota dealership to get wiper inserts. The new inserts were back to being dead quiet starting from the very first wipe.

Compared to the Anco's, the OEM blades are ~1/8" shorter from backing plate to wiper contact edge, and this must make all the difference in this particular application. The slightly longer Anco wiping edge makes the blade grab and stick as it's moving over the windshield.

I continue to use Anco 31's in all other vehicles except this one, as I've never had the same chattering issue.

Modern styling in cars dictates very raked windshields or weird shapes. They are increasingly difficult to wipe.

I thought that I replace my blades too often at the rate of once every 2-3 years !

The original factory blades usually lasted about 4-5 years, the replacement usually didn't lasted that long.

At about $5 a blade why not replace them often? $20 a year is pretty cheap insurance for good visability...

Just recently, I found how long Anco beam type wipers last.

2 years.

The passenger side was smearing a little in the middle the other day. Picked it up to clean the rubber and a 10" section in the middle was torn completely away. I'm suprised they worked at all.

I check them regularly and I normally replace them more often. I just wanted to see how long these would go.

They did last through 200 mile round trips in the ice storm of 2011 and through 70 days of 100°+ temperatures and ozone alerts the following summer.

I simply wipe off the blades with a paper towel. Instantly stops noise and streaking. I often turn the whole blade assembly around to keep the blades from being bent to one side while not in use.

I'm at almost a year on my Ancos, which is far longer than I normally go. The performance has degraded, and it's time to change them, but I'm quite picky about wipers.
