I have an infiniti G35 Coupe which the Mobil 1 filter M1-108 model was specifically made for. I want to use the extended performance model which is the M1-102.

The Mobil Catalog says that the M1-108 is made for the larder VQ V8 nissian/infiniti engine, which is on the infiniti FX. There is no specifically made extended performance model available for the VQ V6 engine for the G35 or 350Z.

Both engines are from the same manufacturer so wouldn't the thread on the filters match?

What do the experts here think? The filters are the same diameter as far as I can tell, the only difference I see is the length of the filter. The extended performance model 102 is the same size a pureone.

Can I use the bigger M1-102 extended performance with no worries?

Isn't the new extended performance filter becoming the norm? I put an M1-108 filter on my wifes altima 3.5 the other day and it was the black extended performance filter. Isn't the M1-110 the bigger filter that's recommended for the 2.5?

You guys should go over to the Wix website & cross-reference some of these M1 filter #'s. The Wix site will give you a complete breakdown of their equivalent filters, including filter dim's., thread size, BPV pressure, flow rate, etc., etc.

The M1-104 and M1-105 are options if it fits without leaking. Specs are one issue while actually fitting is another.

The problem with Mobil1 and other smaller boutique lines is that they don't have every available size.

I've used the Napagold/wix/carquest 51334, 51344, and 51347 as upsizes in several Nissans.

Background info:
M1-102: FRAM 3614= Toyota 3.0 V6
M1-104: FRAM 3593A= Older Honda
M1-105: FRAM 3950= GM?
M1-108: FRAM 6607= Nissan
M1-110: FRAM 7317= Honda/Acura

All except the M1-102 have the correct thread size. The M1-104, 108, and 110 are all interchangeable and would be the ONLY types I'd use for this car.

From largest to smallest: M1-104>M1-110>M1-108

I'd use the M1-104 if space allows, followed by the M1-110.

But remember, if the filter fails, and you aren't using the recommended part #, you may be inviting a disaster.

Check the specs for the M1-102. 3/4" threads shouldn't be used in 20mm threaded applications.

Use the M1-110.

The wix website had the showed that the infinit FX35 had the same engine as the G35, but the M1-110 that was listed as an application for the FX did not list the G35.

What's up with that? Same engine. Is there somethig I'm missing here?
