Hopefully you believe OJ should not have been sued bc he was duly judged.."not guilty". Why is he hated???
So in light of his cleared record..his only punishment would be that businesses (including the NFL) don't employ him. And that could have been done right?
I am glad you buy in the Justice System.
Actually, yes I do believe OJ should not have had to face a civil trial and lose all that money and all of his "stuff". If he is not guilty of the crime he should not have to face a law suit over it. I know that is how our system works but if you are innocent in a criminal trial you should not have to go through a civil trial as well IMHO. I also do not like how in a civil trial the burdens of proof are lower.
But as said it is our system and it is the best option we have. Not perfect but the best out there.
I would also wager if you faced charges for something and were found not guilty in a criminal trial you would feel having to then go through a civil trial as well would be grossly unjust. Especially since the burdens of proof are lower AND because it is impossible to find an impartial juror at that point( in a high profile case like the OJ trial anyway ). There wasn't anyone who could have served on OJ's civil trial who was impartial. he had no chance in that trial. Way too easy to "punish" someone in a civil trial.
