The engine oil was changed every 5,000 miles more or less . Then every 30,000 miles did the trans, 6 speed manual and the differential 2x2 and drained the block and radiator to replace the coolant then changes the power steering oil. a couple years ago I replaced the p/s booster due to a slight seep and all the high pressure hoses . I could have done nothing to it and gotten the same $$$ for it End of rant.

This is why I am not married. ha ha

Simple, you know that truck will go 300,000 w/o a lot of concern. So buy it off her for fair market and let her decide what to do with the money... She wants the smell of new leather and a nicer view and no more diesel fingers. So let her do her thing.

You'll have the "old" truck and feel good about keeping it in the family. What's not to like about this situation, other than the payments? Which she'll have to write the check for every month. After about 6 months of that, she'll be wondering about that new leather smell and it'll make her skittish about doing this again ...

There's nothing wrong with being tired of any vehicle after 16 years...and if this is her daily driver no wonder. Jeez. Maybe by owning the same truck for 16 years you can write a check for whatever comes next? Plus get one of the guys here worshiping the truck to buy it for a premium if you don't want to keep it?

Did she pick/buy the truck BITD?

Yes she bought the truck and uses it to tow my daughters horse trailer around to do horse stuff with it. the trailer and horses probably weight 11,000 lbs with food water and tack. I'll write the check unless there is a zero interest loan.

How will SHE pay for this $60,000+ new truck?

Unless you are actually sauing, "My wife is demanding that I buy a new truck for her," which is a totally different statement.

Sounds like a lot of you guys have a mine/hers marriage, or no marriage at all and are just bloviating.

Nothing is known about CT8's family life other than his wife would like a new horse hauler. It seems he was lamenting all of his preventative maintenance going to waste on the trade-in value, not necessarily that he's against a new truck.

Are they not married??

My wife bought me a $60k truck, with HER money.

Is keeping the old truck and getting a nice car/cuv a possibility? If so, I think that would be a good option so you can keep the truck for pulling the trailer and have a nice new car that gets better mileage, rides better, etc. for daily driving.

The wife bought a new F350 XL 4x4 [she hasn't had her own 4x4 since 1984] with the 6.2 engine and a few features and interior the is exactly like my 2015 F150XL. She had the check book all I said was no Diesel this time. She looked and all the models and mentioned that with the trucks use the fancy interiors would be a waste. It was one of those $10,000.00 off the sticker price type of deals so it only kinda hurt.
The good BITOG news is now all the family vehicles can use the same oil. Except for the tractor. . .

I also ditched the diesel and got the 6.2L F350. Plenty of power with the 4.30 gears so I can still tow quite a bit if needed. I'm sure she will love it!
