I have a thread going on in the Passinger Car Oil Thread

From that thread;
I just bought a new 2024 Ford F-250 XL 4x4 with the 6.8L V8 gas engine (A code). I'm going to do my first oil and filter change at 1,000 miles, then again at 5,000 miles and then every 5,000 miles after that.

I forgot to mention, didn't think of it until now. I tow up to 10,000 lbs. a few times a year and not for long periods. My usual trailer is 7,000 lbs. GVWR and isn't usually loaded more than 5,000± lbs.

And;
I plow snow in an area that averages 125 inches of snow a year, which is about 20 pushes per season. It's been down the last few years, but I plan as if it's going to be 125+ inches a season.

I'm looking for oil filters I can buy locally. As with the oil, I want to select a filter and stick with it. Locally, I can get Wix 51372 & 51372XP, Motorcraft FL-820S, Mobil 1 M1-210A, K&N HP2010, Purolator PBL24651.

Thank, NYH.

5,000 ,,, the miles Wix would work. The XP would be overkill but then overkill is underestimated. , Mobil 1 Euro 0w40 would work well with the XP and cold winter starts as well the towing load on the engine.

I have to use a 5w30 oil (or 0w30 oil in extremely cold conditions/environments) that meets Ford's WSS-M2C961-A1 spec.

After running 0W-40 in my last truck. I'd like to run a 10W-40 oil Apr. through Sept. (30° to 98°) and a 5w30 oil Oct. through Mar. (0° to 60°). I have to stick to what Ford recommends though.

TL;DR: for your locally available filters, I would recommend the Wix 51372 or the K&N HP2010

Avoid Purolator Boss and Wix XP/Napa Platinum They sacrifice filtering efficiency to gain long drain interval.

PurolatorOne, Mobil 1, Bosch, and some Fram filters are made with louvers in the center tube versus holes, which can be subject to manufacturing defects where the louvers are not sufficiently opened. These filters are fine to use, but it is a must to inspect each filter in store prior to purchase.

Some people have reported issues with Motorcraft FL820S filters having tearing filter media. This issue has seemed to gone away in recent years, but Motorcraft filters have become overpriced since the pandemic. If you use them, you should also inspect them for correctly punched louvers.

Motorcraft FL2122 will also fit for your application and are made by a different manufacturer than the FL820S and should be good to go.

Regular Wix/Napa Gold, Microgard Select/Premium Guard, Royal Purple, and K&N should all be made with center tubes punched with holes and should not be a concern.

i would suggest staying away from every filter mentioned. do you have an Orileys or advance auto parts near by? you can get a Carquest premium 85372 for $8 that looks like this after 7-8k miles on a 7.3L F250.

There should be a special sub forum for those that ask for advice but bound it by manufacturer spec, in which case they're really not asking for advice at all. The RTFM subforum. I'm a rebel that follows the rules. Beta. Golden retriever subforum.

It a brand new truck, under mfg. warranty. Why risk a declined warranty claim because the wrong oil or filter was used? He is asking for options within the spec, seems normal to my thinking…

the OP specifically stated this in his thread about oil. they are asking about filters in this forum.
I'm not responsible for the topic swerve of post #3 and #5. I'll petition the mods to delete back to post #2 and put things back on track.

If it's like a typical ford something like a frame synthetic endurance FE8a if it will fit and change it in like 3 years, unless you're running up crazy miles.
It will filter the smallest crud and last way longer than any paper oil filter.

pretty sure it calls for an fl820s which is m22x1.5 threads. but i will second the fram endurance as well. FE2 would be the part number.

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason why a Bosch 3410 or ST3410 oil filter won't fit my truck? It seems to cross-reference to other filters that do fit, FL820S, Wix 51372, M1-210A, HP-2010 ect.

Thanks, NYH.

If it cross referenced to those other filters that are specified for your vehicle, tnen it should work fine.

That's what I thought too. However, when I looked it up on Bosch's website it said it didn't fit my truck. O'Reilly's and NAPA's website say the same thing.
