I agree personally.. The thing looks like a wanna-be pickup. Clearly they're going for cool style, urban-yuppie types-- my opinion of course. Competition causes the rivals to up their game, and that's a good thing.
Generally, they'll likely sell just fine. I'm sure the ride, comfort, fit & finish, fuel economy. performance (in some ways, clearly not payload or towing performance) is near first in class. I've driven a lot of Hondas and rarely have I found one I didn't like driving. Style is another thing, and the new Ridgeline style is just not for me. In fact, I can't stand it.
