Hello all.

I just purchased a 2026 Honda Ridgeline. I do my own oil changes so I was wanting to buy a bunch of filters.

I will be changing the oil about every 5000 - 6000 miles.

Are Walmart Supertech brand oil filters acceptable? I have used the Supertech oil filters in the past on other cars and they appear to work just fine.

I got rid of my 2018 GMC Canyon and I used Fram TG filters and Supertech 5W30 synthetic oil and never had a problem as far as lubrication.

I am wary of buying oil filters on ebay as there are rumors of MANY fakes.

Thanks.

I used to use Wix 57356 (never accused of being a bargain but I only use 2 per year) until I bought the new Wix air filter and saw how cheap it was made. I've since gone back to Purolator One PL14610. Occasionally Menards will run some oddball sale and I can get them for only a couple bucks more than Supertech.

This forum consists mostly of analites... don't get paralyzed by all the nonsense here. You won't see 100s of vehicles on the shoulder incapacitated by oil filter failures...

Nothing wrong with buying a filter when needed through your local dealer if concerned

What's important to you in terms of oil filters? If you don't care about efficiency, then just go OEM since the vehicle is under warranty and that will remove any dealership hassles if something goes wrong with the engine because the dealer will most likely blame any non OEM part first, regardless if it was the cause or not.

Where's the fun in injecting pragmatism into a discussion here?

I was thinking of the OEM Honda filter route

This individual has been on ebay since 2011 and has 99.9% positive feedback. This individual looks legit.

Any feedback?

Thanks.
it’s just a fram TG in a blue can. nothing special and certainly better options out there. you are not required to use a OEM filter.

Plenty of Super Tech oil filters Cut & Posted on here and they look decent to me. For 5K you would be fine. I personally wouldnt run over 5K though.

Sells a lot of other Honda stuff, along with non-Honda stuff. I say this seller is 100% safe and the Maxell, made in Japan batteries are a bonus.

If you’re going to stick to OEM, I’d use this part # specifically. 15400-RTA-003. It is a Mahle filter made in Japan. All of the cut and posts I’ve seen (and the ones that I’ve cut) have looked great as far as build quality goes. Note that no one can confirm their efficiency, but they are likely to have a much lower filtering efficiency compared to some of the other options in the market.

Glenda W mentioned some of the better performing filters currently available. If it were mine, I’d use one from that list. But, if you’re sticking with OEM, the 15400-RTA-003 is the filter you want.

Buy it from a known reliable retailer. Preferably not Amazon or eBay. But, there may be some honest retailers on there. Do your homework.

Also, some retailers will try to substitute the A02 filter if you buy the 003 part number. Make sure you are getting the 003.
