I pours Redline 5w30 in my Vq35DE motor 4 days ago. In past I been using Royal Purple Oil 10w40 (3 times), 0w40 (1 time). After that I swicth to Redline because I heard redline is the best. [censored] I hate there bottle is to hard to tell how much oil did we pour into the engine.

I talked to the Dave at redline n he alway recommend lightest weight of oil like 5w30 or 5w20. Never 10w40 or keep on going. He told me to go 18,000 interval of oil or 8-9 months?? He know I drive 100 miles a days.

2004 Nissian Maxima 3.5L, cai,cat-back,jet maf sensor, n ecu flashed.

I do drive hard sometime through 7100 rpm WOT.

Thats a lot of miles... are you interested in extended drain intervals?

I'd cap it at 10k without a used oil analysis to see the condition of the oil.

Agreed. I somehow think this:

actually was stated as 'UP TO 18k miles or 9 months'. Big difference.

Evidently you have 111,000 miles on your car; what happened to your original engine to cause a replacement 32,000 miles ago, at only 79,000 miles?

Your 2004 Nissan Maxima with the 3.5L engine calls for 5w30 oil.
This is why they recommended the Redline 5w30.

100 miles a day, 5 x a week, 52 weeks gives around 26K miles a year.
If this is the case, I would go with 13K miles or 6 months.
This gives you a oil change twice a year.

If this is highway miles......not short trip driving, then you should be able to go with this plan.
Short trip driving would direct you toward a shorter mileage/time for your oil.

As mentioned, I would get a oil analysis done on your oil.
Take note that folks have mentioned that the first change of Redline may show some high numbers due to the cleaning action.
I would do a analysis on the 2nd change of Redline.
This might make a shorter, up to 10K for the first run a good idea, but I am splitting hairs.

One other thing, you mention CAI......an oil analysis would be a good idea for a check on how much dust is getting by your air filter, which would direct you toward a shorter oil change interval as well.

It would make no sense to pay a premium for an oil like RL and not take advantage of its long-life capabilities.
The whole point Dave was making is that the oil can last a long time in service, which is at least one reason to use it.
There are other advantages to its POE basestock as well.

I have trouble with people believeing all the [censored] about how good syn oil is untill it comes to the lasting longer part.

Yeah, until you read threads like Trav just posted. No thanks, I'll stay with my 5k intervals.

Dave told me,

Rohan,

With that daily mileage you could change it every 8 or 9 months, about every 18,000 miles. The oil in use would typically achieve a good operating temperature, boiling out combustion by-products, effectively removing those contaminates.

My manual said 5w30,10w30, or 10w40.

If that's a direct quote from Dave, then I stand corrected. It surprises the heck out of me that he would give you a carte blanc recommendation to go 18k without testing your oil to see how it was holding up. That really surprises me.

My point was that it seems you 'may' not be doing a lot of short trip driving, which would make you a better choice for a longer OCI.
Are you in the 26-30K mile per year range?.....if so, every 6 months would still work for you and be within the 18K mile time that Dave recommended.

I would still recommend that you have a used oil analysis done to be more certain of how things are going......but after 1 cycle of the Redline.

I did read the other viscosities listed, but the 5w30 is the "all temp" recomendation......
Add to that the fact that Redline 5w30 is a very robust oil that will hold up better than lesser 10w30/40.

Of course, if you are going for an extended OCI, you will need to evaluate the oil filter you are using to see if it is up to the longer OCI interval.

i understood u now. Yes I do HWY mile n 10 percent city mile.
I'm current on 5w30 redline with K&N oil filter n I'll go 10k first times.

Anybody know which oil filter will hold up until 15-18k interval?

I forgot my dipstick is to hard to read oil level on redline. Do they make gauage for oil level reading?
