Why not more hybrids?

So what's the solution? EVs are still years away from being practical, and the left is at war with fossil fuels. Hybrids are the only bridging technology available...
Hybrids run on the road for 20+ years, and yet, it is news for some here.
Like I said before, some need to realize that Clinton won elections in 1992, and that My Cousin Vinny is not current hit.

In order to have a solution, you must first have a problem. I'm not seeing one here. Only the one the government is trying so desperately to create for political purposes. Today's ICE engines are some of the best, most reliable, longest lasting, cleanest running, and most fuel efficient ever made.

The fact our government doesn't like them, because they don't fit into their progressive agenda, does not constitute a "problem" in itself. It all amounts to nothing more than political gamesmanship. They have you, and everyone else THINKING it's a "problem".

The fact is today you have 4-cylinder, normally aspirated Toyota ICE vehicles producing over 200 HP, and getting over 40 MPG doing it. Call me crazy, but I'm just not seeing the horrible "problem" that is being created by that.

If you can't live without an EV, fine, go buy one. If you think hybrids are somehow better, buy one of those.

They will get slightly better as time passes. At least to the point where you can sleep at night without worrying about burning down your garage while charging them.

But it is insane forcing this nonsense down the throats of every American, with some type of silly "time limit". Especially when you have China and India, 2 of the most populous nations on Earth, polluting with fossil fuels like there is no tomorrow. And the government of all people should know, you cannot legislate technology.

Who is forcing anything on you? Can you buy ICE? Yes you can! Can you buy hybrid? Yes you can. Can you buy EV? Yes you can.
But, go to Toyota and ask for hybrid, and answer is 8-12 months wait time. ICE? They will gladly deliver it right away.
So go figure what market is telling you.

To the above China own goal is to have 40% vehicles sold by 2030 as EVs. India at 30%.

While you are limited in view(Fox?) of it being a partisan agenda the goal is much broader in scope across the world.

What is China or India going to accomplish by selling more EV's, when they're burning millions of tons of high sulfur coal in their power plants every year? And opening more and more of them every month.

And what does Fox have to do with anything? Where do you get your propaganda from, that you so righteously believe in?

The government is pushing EV's. There already is a time limit being imposed by California on how much longer they will allow ICE vehicles to be sold. Other states are promising to follow. Why?

What is the market telling you?
That is policy. It can be reverted if people elect someone who runs on different approach. If not, maybe that is what they want.
The problem is not EV, Hybrids etc. Problem is that people are perfectly fine living life differently than you, and you have a hard time understanding how is that possible.
Hybrids are the most popular choice right now in family segment. Every manufacturer is considering that. Electric engines are in vehicles that people would never associate with hybrid cars, and they actually don’t know that it is hybrid system. BMW M3/4 would be perfect example.

They are burning, but they are currently in reverse trend. Apparently having a display that shows sunset instead of a real sun was a problem.

EV's amount to only 1.2% of Toyota's total vehicle sales. 1.2%. That's it. The fact you can't buy one, but can buy gas means nothing. They're simply not producing as many, creating what amounts to an artificial demand. Even if that demand amounts to only 1.2% of their total sales. (Ford is under .4 %). And there's a "shortage" of those too.

The reason is, EV's are worthless to anyone in rural areas, who have to travel long distances in short periods of time. And that will continue for decades to come, if not indefinitely. EV's are no solution to anything. They're just creating problems that were never there before.

If you live in the city, and travel 5 miles to work, and 2 to buy groceries, they make a great second car. Then put in your order, and wait in line to become one of the 1.2%, who will help change the world for the better.

Have you actually paid attention what I wrote or you are on some rant as usual?
I said HYBRIDS!

Maybe. So what you saying we should be competing who can pollute more?
No. I'm saying this country currently has enough oil to last us decades, if not over a century into the future. Enough coal to last us 3-1/2 centuries. What's the big rush by this administration to stop ICE sales by 2035? That's preposterous.

Why put a time limit on ICE production, when we don't have a proven replacement? The exact same can be said for replacing coal. Let the free market determine who buys what. Not the government.

China is in a reverse trend building Coal fired power plants??????? Really?????? Lol. I know, I know, you get your electrical charge from a harmless, non polluting, electrical socket.
