Why not more hybrids?

This isn't a matter of political opinion. States are doing it left and right. Perhaps you can catch up with the rest of what the world already knows. Unless you're in a coma, much like our current leader.

There is no need, or requirement for ANY of this. If EV's and hybrids are all so wonderful, then let the free market show that. Forcing the removal of a given proven product to push a political agenda on people, is not what a free society does.

Are these enough "non Fox" sources for you? If you need more, just let me know.

That is CA, and not "this administration."
And policy can be changed the same way it is introduced.
And, if people who advocate that still win elections, maybe people in CA want that? What that has to do with you?

Enough already with the political comments. M56959 will lock this thread as sure as I am writing this if you don't stop.
Furthermore, please refrain from mentioning California in a thread, there is something about CA that she doesn't like, maybe it is because political arguments seem to start any time someone mentions CA.

This effects everyone. Why are you so insistent on being being so obtuse?
So? What do you want? Right to drive?
Manufacturers are going to make vehicles that they think will bring profit.
And if you think that manufacturers did not have any lobbying say in any of this, you do live in an alternative reality.
Nothing happens without lobbying, nothing!

But, this is the question: I sold my minivan in May that got 20-21mpg on why, and some 16-19mpg in city, depending on conditions. I ordered a hybrid minivan that gets anywhere from 33-40mpg and does everything the same. So tell me, why I am at a loss here?

Did you get another Toyota?

So now you're telling us we can't even talk about California because, "someone doesn't like it"? This is getting completely ridiculous.

You can buy a lot of gas for what a new minivan costs. Replacing a perfectly good running vehicle to improve fuel economy, does not make a cost effective argument.

And for only a 12 MPG improvement? (21 to 33). Seriously? Especially when you factor in depreciation, license, and insurance increases after just the first 3 years. You're getting killed.

To be fair, he needs a reliable vehicle where he is located. Getting stranded can turn into a bad situation.

No, I am not getting killed. I am selling a minivan that needed front suspension, brake work, and liftgate eventually would have to be fixed, which is around $3,200 at best. So no, it was not a perfectly good running vehicle, but I got money like it was.
So again, where am I at a loss? I sometimes do 5,000 miles road trips. I do not drive a minivan in the city so take that out of the equation, or wherever I can use BMW. But, 5,000 miles road trip with 12 miles difference (at worst by the way) is a big difference.
Most people won't change vehicles bcs. of 10mpg only. But when they do, 10mpg is a BIG determining factor.

I do not drive a minivan in the mountains, I have BMW for that. Doing twisties in the Rockies when I ski (twice a week) is fun with BMW. WIth Toyota, it is emotional pain.
This is a road trip vehicle, and I do rack a lot of road trip miles. So actually, it makes a big difference in mpg.

That someone is M56959, an admin. She tends to lock a lot of threads that discuss anything about California in the posts. It just makes me think that she has something against CA. I could be wrong, but her actions speak for themselves. You can look them up and see for yourself.

I understand where you're coming from. And I get keeping the politics to a minimum. I don't much care for California either. But it's a bit silly for adults to act like that.

Yeah. The wife wants sliding doors for the kids. So this is the only reasonable option considering AWD+Hybrid.
Like I have said many times..."There is no satisfactory substitute for sliding side doors when you have little ones".
Still, like I told you before, since you have denigrated and hated-on Toyota products many times, you have a screw loose purchasing another one.

Nah, it is what it is. Last one prepared me for this horror.
But, 34-38mpg might make things easier to live with.
