Why is he trying to race me???

While I still find notching wins at the Stoplight Grand Prix to be entertaining, I really enjoy coaxing some poor fool to attempt keeping up with me on a twisting road or-best of all-on a decreasing radius interstate ramp.
Hilarity often ensues...
 
I would've thought that the 'ricer mentality' was fully well played out by now, even in Cali, but I guess not.

I tend to do this to all of the elitist/entitled 'richy-riches' who sit right on my tail in their high zoot SUVs (or even luxo-barge sedans/etc.) when I am going even a little OVER the posted limit on straights, until we get into the snaky parts around here.
YES, it IS quite entertaining.

The Z06 is a "punks wanna race" magnet. I never go from a dig ... only rolling starts.
 
The wife and I get people wanting to race our Sportbikes, the Viper, the M6, and now the X6 M fairly regularly. Unless I know them, I generally ignore them. Too many clowns with something to prove, and unknown driving skills and motives. The Dually, the old 4Runner, and the Camry don't get much interest from the wanna-be racers.

Try living down the road from a high school. It's beyond ridiculous at 11:30 and 3:00 every day.

Nope. Down here, it's rare, but still out there. Hilarious to see someone driving a Civic with "racing" mods take off at about 3/4-WOT and fail to keep Pace with one of the many 300HP minivans out there. I'm not talking racing. I'm talking about the van is maybe slightly above average acceleration, not racing at all and the Civic is still roaring it's giant tailpipe off trying to keep up.
 
Some youngsters sometimes want to race me when I'm driving my old Supra. This thing has the power of today's average naturally aspirated inline 4.

Luckily driving a pearl twirling image E350 (locally called Buckhead Betty's) I never have any issue.

I did have someone try me in Kentucky in his Duramax Sierra or Silverado cause he was putzing along in the passing lane at the speed limit and the right lane opened up - he rolled coal on me as I slid over to the right lane but foot to kick down switch put him well behind me faster than I expected. My stepfather has a Duramax Silverado and I know those are quick - guess the aerodynamics dont do it any favors at highway speeds.

Yeah, those modded Civics are especially laughable. And the older they are, the sillier. I bought an 88 Civic LX sedan, 5-spd manual, brand new, and drove it for ten years. It was a great car for its intended mission, which was never racing anyone. In fact, I would pretty much characterize the engine as torque-free. But it was still a very good car; great mileage, relatively big trunk and as simple and reliable as an anvil. But the biggest "flatulence can" muffler in the universe wasn't ever going to morph it into a Corvette killer. . .

This is one thing I won't be looking forward to when I get the Vette. I've heard lots of street racer wannabees like to taunt Corvette owners. I plan ignoring them...

Happens almost everytime I drive the Mustang. I never do, don't really care. Although the one time I wanted to see how it would stack up there was a UCSB student in a new Lambo Huracan, there are a group of out of the country students with Lambos and Ferraris, but he wasn't interested.

I did street race frequently when I was younger. If you look it up there is a highway 217 here in Goleta/Santa Barbara and that was where we would race. We actually would go to the point of painting lines on the freeway and some of the guys would spread pimp juice out before their runs. O to be young and stupid again.

Literally as I was typing this a guy called wanting tires on his Fiesta SuperTech "stage 2 that's faster than anything around." I joked and said the current fastest car in a straight line that runs is a 83 LTD which he responded with "o I drive on road courses only." I said "well you're in luck, the same guy is the fastest of the group on a road course, he has a Chevy pickup that blows the doors off of most cars at Buttonwillow and Willow Springs. Of course it is a tube chassis, has a 358ci V8 with a NASCAR cert." the silence on the other end was fun.

And more importantly, why are you calling the dealer for tires on your "race car?" Call the freaking tire store for that nonsense.

I hate tires. Dirty, stinky, goes bad, don't want to sell them, don't want to stock/store them. I took my Explorer to NTB for tires...you know, the freaking tire store!

I hate tires too. I didn't hate tires until I started working at the dealer. I didn't mind them when I worked at Sears and didn't know how little the markup was on them. So much work, effort, wasted storage space, my owner's money tied up, for minimal profit.
 
I always get idiots that wanna race me when I'm riding around on my R1.

I don't provoke anyone to race but they wanna race me, even pickups etc.


I may or may not know that my R1 can hit 95+mph in first gear.
