We went to Costco this afternoon. I was driving on a major road, doing the speed limit and minding my own business.
There were many other cars around us.

Some younger fella in a Nissan z with loud exhaust started revving it up next to us. First he was on my right. My wife asked me what he was doing.

I ignored him. Then he came around on my side started revving and lurching on my side.

I kept ignoring him.

He kept this up for a couple of blocks. We came to an intersection and we had a green light. On the other side of the intersection is a pretty good dip

I normally would have slowed for this dip. I didn't. I let the fj cruiser suspension soak it up in style. The guy in the z car had to slam on his brakes or tear his spoiler off. After he slammed on his brakes to crawl across the dip he got stuck in traffic so I didn't have to deal with him anymore.

Wonder what he was thinking? Trying to street race a 4000lb lifted Toyota with a v6 lol. I mean. I'm 50 yrs old. I was racing before this guy was born.

Get that alot from these rice rocketeers when were driving around in the wifes 17 Buick Regal GS, KNUCKLEHEADS.

I have this old '67 Porsche 912, 4 cyl. When I was driving it more, every so often I'll pull up to a light next to a ricer. He'll look at me, I look back, blip the throttle a couple of times. Light goes green and he takes of like a shot. I put it into gear and just putter down the road. The 912s aren't known for having a lot of HP, first cousin to the 356.

Happens to me occasionally, in fact this morning. I was in a hurry to get to work so accelerating from a stop faster than I normally do, some fella in a Hyundai Veloster seemed to think I was trying to race him. He flies up next to me, slows down to my speed even with me then guns it. He slows down again till I catch up, then repeats this two or three times. A few years ago I would have been happy to oblige, but these days my clean driving record and cheap insurance is worth more than cheap thrills.

Back in the late '80s, a dimwit in an early 80's Z28 tried to keep up with my 1973 Bavaria 3.0 on a secluded rural two lane; I easily pulled away in the corners but when the road straightened out he really put his foot into it to catch me. Problem was, I knew the road had two huge frost heaves located 500' from the last corner (leading on to a long straight).
He didn't.
My Bavaria glided over the buckled pavement at 80+, but when Camaro Boy hit them his front end bottomed out and the front crossmember and oil pan dug into the pavement creating a beautiful shower of sparks. Twice. The last time I saw Z man he was s-l-o-w-l-y pulling over to the shoulder.
I laughed all the way home.

Happened a lot years ago when that Need for Speed movie came out. All the little 4 popper kiddies thought they were in race cars and doing all kinds of stupid things. I had one punk get out of his car knock on my drivers window at a red light and tell me he needs a race. I told him where to go as the light turned green.

I succumbed to the temptation about 20 years ago. Light traffic and country 4 lane. Me, 1995 Cadillac Seville STS...him, late model Mustang GT 5 speed. He was (boodnin) what my wife calls it, his engine. Light turns green, I floor the caddy, jump him a half car length while his stang is wheel hoppin and held him off for a couple hundred yards. I let off and he stayed in it around me and finally out of sight. Wife wasn't happy but I was 18 again for about 6 seconds.

I must admit..a couple months ago I was at a rural light in the left lane bc thats the lane you want to be in..road narrows a half mile ahead.
Noisy pickup pulls in right land. I knew he was going to try to make me look bad, in my plain Jane White (Turbo) Forester. Quick look..no cops.

Yea he tried..I got off of it as soon as turbo was happy. Wife pi$$ed, I smiled, Pickup zoomed ahead of me (he got the message..lol). Haven't done that ion many years.

Roughly equal parts cray and stupid -- there's a lot of that out there. . . I admit it -- it's pretty delicious when they damage their cars perpetrating their "antics," or do their stuff with a cop watching. Also pretty tasty when they force upon themselves the choice: save face+lose car, or lose face+save car. . .

In case you missed it,
here's another example of a highway nutjob earning a stiff dose of well-deserved, law-enforcement issued, karma, in front of a couple dozen approving spectators (including me!).

Turbo Forester? Not buying it. What was it a 1948 GMC with a flathead 6 ?

Happened a lot when I was driving my Rx-7 daily. Mostly it was lowered Civics that would pull up and try to race.

I always just ignore it. They'll still roll down the window at the next stoplight and claim they "won", even though you weren't racing.

True, and the Jeep has the big red callipers, so I get it on that vehicle, but the truck is a truck, so it seems a weird target

I find the other thing happening. I'm minding my own business in my Mustang and some jack in a FJ Cruiser is begging for a piece of me. It's annoying.
