My Mazdaspeed 3 attracted the usual ricer challenges; I usually ignored them- if my wife was riding with me. For some reason a lot of the lifted pickups with six inch diameter tailpipes want to try their luck with my 2 Series. My SOP is to let them get about a car length ahead and then I nail it and leave them for dead.

With all due respect to Bobby Rahal(always thought Niki Lauda screwed him with the Ford F1 deal, but that's another story) the proverb is ancient, literally.

Noisy pickup pulls in right land. I knew he was going to try to make me look bad, in my plain Jane White (Turbo) Forester. Quick look..no cops.

Yea he tried..I got off of it as soon as turbo was happy. Wife pi$$ed, I smiled, Pickup zoomed ahead of me (he got the message..lol). Haven't done that ion many years.

Turbo Forester? Not buying it. What was it a 1948 GMC with a flathead 6 ?

FYI: 13.8 second 1/4 mile at 97 m.p.h. Car & Driver, August 2003
Later models got slower.

Haha!

When riding my Yamaha, I get kids in ricers, kids in diesel pickups, kids in Mustangs, literally kids in anything try to race me. It still boggles my mind why anybody that does not have a sub-11 second bike tries to race an 11 second bike.

Classic move. Did that before over a set of train tracks that I knew would nearly send my truck off of the ground. Other dude was in a lowered GS300.

Didn't speed up, just kept my speed. He must have lost some fillings.

He's the first guy I heard it from. He was on David Letterman or one of those shows.

Happens to me a fair amount in my car...

I do go for it time to time... Like at the Rte 199 light going on to the limited access highway from that light... I had a SUV type vehicle take off fast from there and that cat had at least two lengths on me headed into the the turn to go up to the ramp... I buried my car into that corner fast enough that I had to back completely off the gas pedal .. catch my car then drove on around that SUV like they were a dog tied to a tree
lol.gif

Was going 75 mph before the entry of the lane to get on Rte 199... I did the same thing with a Porsche Cayenne at that same location... I was in the farthest lane to the left with the yellow line on my left side... We ended up going 83 mph with the Porsche Cayenne having to fall in behind me because they could not drive around me. Those 2 lanes actually 3 lanes because another lane comes from Monticello westbound onto that same ramp those 3 lanes blend into a single lane that goes on to Rte 199.. Redneck 101... If yellow line is on your left side... Advantage you
lol.gif

Sometimes I'm not looking to do this... Like one time headed west on interstate 64 and this cat who I had caught from way behind starts pacing me and obviously wants to do a rolling 80 race... Not happening.. and did not happen. I am not into racing to 110 mph on a interstate... Especially given troopers are out there at times.

I was driving the wife's Avalon a few years ago and had some kid in a pitiful little tuner pull up next to me with a girl in the passenger seat and start revving his wimpy little engine and creeping forward...I wonder if that girl dumped him after he got completely waxed by a middle aged man in a "lux" sedan? That Avalon can take off well enough if you can keep the front wheels from spinning...
Another kid in an STI with stickers all over it did the same thing when I was in my FXT waiting for a left arrow at a highway onramp with 2 left turn lanes. I just smiled, knew the kid should be able to wax the crud out of me (particularly since I was in the rightmost turn lane and had a longer path than him) but I figured I would at least make him work for it. Timed my launch based on the yellow to red for the cross traffic (NOBODY around, no worries about anybody going through on the red) and hit the merge with him lurching way behind me...I would guess he missed a shift badly.
I wanted to get a look at his face after that and hung to the right going slower than usual on the highway, but he just DID NOT want to pass me! Finally ended up to his right at another red light and it turned out there was something really interesting to his left that he stared at until we got the green.

Thought of another one that I should probably be more ashamed of...was getting ready to get onto a tight ramp from one highway to another, was already in the right lane but some jackwagon in an ancient van was just desperate to get in front of me despite there being nobody behind me for hundreds of feet. I didn't speed up to block him, but he just didn't have enough power to actually pass me...he finally falls in behind me, but of course he is [censored] and tailgating the [censored] out of me.
This off/on ramp is pretty poorly designed and there is a rather sudden change in the sharpness of the turn partway into the curve...I usually would slow down a bit at that point, but that day I just hugged the inside corner more than usual and prepared for the possibility of my tires squealing a bit while I held my speed.
Of course, the van couldn't hold the curve and he went sliding across the pavement...I don't think he went totally out of control, but he probably ended up stopping in the grass.
Hey, I didn't DO anything to the guy, right? Not my fault he can't drive his crappy old van.

I like it!
My wife has an '06 and I think she just passed 100kmiles...I am close to 100K with my '14. Guess who does the driving when we go somewhere together??

A few years ago,my gf and I were in her then 1998 Olds 88 coming from Houston in the middle of the night. These two high school age dudes pull up next to us in a late 90s era Mustang GT doing their silly little revving thing. I knew what they wanted,so off we went. We were the only two cars on this wide 8 lane road in the middle of nowhere. I beat them four lights in a row haha. We pull up side by side at the next light, his friend in the passenger seat is pointing at him, laughing at him,and he immediately floors it and turn left at the light away from us haha.

-did you know a Toyota Yaris can do 90?
-I take off from the traffic light first position, I putter around at 35mph, look in my back mirror and 4 lanes of traffic are 1/4 mile behind me??? and they still didn't take off???
-for the life of me I cannot figure it out: how can i pass some guys on the right on a major highway while doing the posted speed??? on a flat dry road?

Like dumping a tailgater on someone else's tailgate while your lane cruises onwards …
