Some close friends of ours have 2 sons. One is about 12 or 13 and is in the 8th grade. He is a little heavy and doesn't have the deepest voice. He is an absolutely OUTSTANDING trumpet player and consistently plays one or two grade levels up.
On Thursday, he was hit in the head by two kids. They hit him with textbooks. Not "hard" as he later said but enough to get his attention. That night, he took a shower. After the shower, he complained that his head hurt. His parents took him to Urgent Care (HUGE mistake) and they checked him out. Lots of things went wrong and they ended up sending him home. She scheduled an appt with his Dr.
Friday, he is in severe pain. She takes him to the ER and they do a CAT scan. Guess what they find? Yep, bleeding on his brain. They admit him to the ICU and begin treatment. The injury was the same type which killed the lady from "Parent Trap" when she failed to seek medical attention after a fall from a horse. He got lucky as the bleeding "stopped". He's still in the hospital and will likely be out of school for a month or more.
This child could have died! Heck, he still may if another vein bursts. I mean, what gives people the right to think that it is OK to pick on other people? Please keep this young man in your thoughts and prayers. He "insulted" me tonight when I went to see him so I know that he has his sense of humor and is taking things well despite the pain he is in. Pain meds interfere with the neuro scans so they cant give him much which forces him to just have to deal with it.
