Like should I run a 10w30 in summer.
Maybe it wont shear down as fast, better base stock.
Gear oil also what's the best

It's thinner thus after shear the operating viscosity is nearly the same. The winter rating throws people off.

I buy whatever is on sale and ideally with a rebate. Always full synthetic and my limit is $3 per quart after rebate.

Havoline at Fleet Farm seems the best deal lately, but M1 at Costco on sale combined with rebate is a good deal, Quaker State Ultimate Durability at Menards with rebate, and Valvoline Advanced at Meijer are all in my stash.

One vehicle gets three oil changes a year with 6 quarts each OCI, the other two oil changes a year at 9 quarts.

I have run a LOT of different oil in my car obviously...

Pennzoil Ultra, Mobil Super, Havoline Pro DS, Havoline DS, Cam2 Dexos1 Gen 2 full synthetic, Super S all have run the quietest... The others have run fine as well.. only Royal Purple which I actually forgot to list ran noticeably loud... Though I believe that may well have been a oil filter related circumstance. I changed both the oil and filter at that time.. I forget what filter was on the car at the time... But the noise happened well after the car had been started... Very, very strange. Never observed since that one time.. . I replaced the oil with Castrol gold bottle 5w30 and a Fram Ultra filter. Ran perfect after that...

The amazing thing is how well Cam2 Dexos1 Gen 2 full synthetic oil and Super S have run in my car yet.... In my ladies Camry a 50/50 mix of Cam2 and Super S was crazy loud in it... Even the lady really noticed it.. Changed that out with Federated Auto synthetic blend 5w30 made by Warren Distribution and as soon as I started the car after changing the oil it was loud for about a 1/2 second.... Then way, way, way quieter... It was Hellen Keller obvious the noise difference. But in my car Cam2 and Super S run noise free...

(All in 2019)

Now I am becoming obsessed with gear oils.

I guess I'm just gonna have to learn to live with it.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

It's like a disease. But also we are curious what will work in a certain vehicle. A vehicle which might not last long enough to test all the oils we want to test LOL

I would say when someone finds an oil that gives them better results than anything else, just stay there…

'Withdrawls' from purchase abstinence, may overtake you by August 1st, 2020

I have run Kendall 0w-20 since the factory fill and done all oil changes myself in my 4Runner that has 104k miles.

I don't know if that makes me a hero or villain?

I would describe you as an "oil vigilante."

A self appointed doer of oil justice

I wanna be like you. I was as long as I used Amsoil. But once
I started cheating, I just can't stop. Maybe I should go back to my first love?

I just use whatever. I am not brand loyal and have never really noticed a difference in driveability, mileage, or noise between any oils I have used.

Only reason a vehicle may get the same oil more than once is because I got a bunch on sale.
My Santa Fe will be on Pennzoil Platinum 10w30 for a total of 5 changes (previous, current and 3 more), since I have quite a bit of that.
I think my truck has seen the same oil twice since I have had it (had a 26 qt box of Castrol GTX HM that was used 2 changes in a row on it).
Motorcycle will have Peak 15w40 for a while, since I have like 6 gallons of it (use 3.3 qts per change, annual change).

At some point, several vehicles will be getting a staple of RGT since I have ~70 qts of that.

You could; or perhaps give Schaeffer a shot.

Schaeffers will always have a special place in my heart. Especially after I learned of their core beliefs as a company. I just have a hard time getting the $400 together for a minimum order.

Don't get me wrong. I ain't a penny pincher. I just do a poor job ordering and end up having to make another $400 order before the last one ran out. Then I look at my 4 jugs of RGT at $11
each and think about what my wife is gonna say when she sees the VISA bill.

I have the urge right now, almost like an addiction. I'm running Quaker State conventional and a Motorcraft filter that are only about 5 weeks and 400 miles old, and I have about 30 quarts of oil in my stash, yet I still feel like going to Walmart, buying a 5 qt jug of Super Tech conv 5w20 and doing an OCI anyway. But that would be wasteful and not practical so I'm hopefully going to ignore my craving.

I have actually thrown oil away to reduce my stash so I can go and buy more. Talk about sick in the head.

I've never done that.
I have done short 1500 oil changes to get thru my oil just so I could use something different
