I'm just thinking about Amsoil's products, and wondering if there is anyone left (not just here, anywhere) who runs good 'ole AMO 10W-40? Think about it:

Most passengers cars run the 5W-30's and 10W-30's, and SSO;

Euro cars run the 5W-40 AFL;

Diesel guys run the 15W-40's, 5W-40's, or HDD;

Muscle car drivers and racers run 20W-50, or one of the Dominator grades.

Who's left that runs 10W-40 (XLT or AMO)? Real old-timers that never got over running 10W-40 from the 1970's?

:p

I was REALLY tempted to run it in my Jeep's 4.0

It still advertises as having a good amount of zinc in it, and if I remember right is SL rated not SM. Its also still good for 1 year drain intervals.

Probably a good solid oil, I just didnt want to take the MPG hit.

The Amsoil 10W-40 is a very good product and if I had an application that called for a 10W-40 I would use it without hesitation.

ryan2022, it would be an excellent oil for your 05 TJ.

I was tempted to.

Its just that its quite thick, even for a 40 weight.

I'm sure itd be fine, btu the Jeep needs all the help it can get for MPG.

I'm running their XL 5w30 right now.
