Who changes there oil after a bottle of techron etc?

When Techron was a young product, it used to specify on the bottle the aggregate maximum dosage(s) that should be used during a single OCI, and generally suggested it was better to dose before an OC, to mitigate any potential oil dilution issues.

Why that verbiage was removed is a mystery. The only practical explanation is that it's not as potent as it used to be, but that's a WAG.
Are you comparing the Techron CONCENTRATE to the “fuel system cleaner”?
Two different products.

Two different products.

There was only a single Techron product back then, before they, and others like Gumout tried to squeeze more juice out of the orange by trying to create different segments of the product.

Regardless, neither one of the current products carry any such admonition like the original did. Their only current guideline is 1oz/gallon and there is no mention of the risk of oil dilution at all on the bottle.

But the language on the data sheet cited earlier does make that implication.

I didn't notice anyone in this thread mention - UOAs after Techron (and presumably anything with PEA) show an uptick in lead. This was common knowledge and discussed frequently here many years ago, and I believe I saw it in my own UOAs. The discussion at the time was whether 1/ the generally beneficial cleaner is actually harmful to something else as an unintended consequence, spiking lead readings 2/ the cleaner itself or its products of combustion read as lead in the test and it's just a little bit of contamination that the lab should potentially know about when they write their commentary on your vehicle's results.

I'm generally a Redline SI-1 guy, trying for some time in the last 500 before an OC. If not SI-1, then Gumout Regane (with PEA). I can't say I've seen Techron sold up here any more. Amsoil PI would also be on my list but the other two are easier to get. I've run it in the middle of an OCI before but generally why tempt fate? Just time it in the tail end of the OCI when possible.

I haven't recalled much of an issue between using Techron, BG 44K, or Redline SI-1. Depending on what PEA bottle I got, I usually use it once or twice every few months, independent of my 5K OCI.

Another data point: BMW used to sell Techron concentrate under their own label and has a bulletin about using it every 3k miles if you don't use top tier gas. They don't mention anything about oil changes:

They even claim two subsequent treatments can be more beneficial:

Been rebadged by outboard motor OEM’s as well …

Hey all just wondering who changes there oil after running a fuel cleaner such as techron?

I was in the opinion that you would only really change the oil if your engine was fuel diluting the oil and or had bad rings etc

Any normal vehicle shouldn’t mix fuel with oil so the techron would never end up in the oil to damage anything ?

Yes. I change my oil after running Techron. Is it necessary? I think so, but I am not an expert.

By the way, I stopped using Techron and other products like it after an engineer at Chevron told me you don't need it if you use Chevron gasoline.
