Who changed the site format?

+1.

I'm not seeing that (on desktop).

Ah, I see that now. Thanks Nick.

Software developers apparently just change stuff for the sake of changing it (and maybe to stay employed?), not because its BETTER. Like, why put the sidebar on the right instead of the left? Serves no practical purpose whatsoever, just makes me look in a different place than I'm used to. Same for the "my posts" option.

Now, if the 'Search' function works better, it'll make it all worthwhile because the old version was awful!

I have never changed stuff for the sake of changing it, that invites more problems than it would ever be worth.

I didn't change this site, but my guess would be the underlying software needed to be updated, and part of that update required the new format. In other words, you can keep the old format and be at risk of having the site overtaken by malicious actors, or you can remove the ability to be overtaken by malicious actors, even if temporarily, and get the new format at the same time. The 2 are not mutually exclusive, but they are partners nonetheless.

I really don't like this view, is there an option for the traditional view we have before? I read left to right so having the recent thread side bar on the left is better.

I don't like this new format. Way to much scrolling and you can't easily see the most recent posts as before.

I didn't like it so much at first, but I've already gotten pretty used to it. After hiding the Recent Topics on the right (I never used them before anyways) it fits my iPad screen real well. I like it.

FWIW Agree!

Clicking on a users location goes to a google map link now and Loc. prefix has been removed. Gonna put something random instead.

Its like my job. They have a bunch of rather complicated and unintuitive applications that we need to maneuver thru to get our work done. Every other year they decide that one or more need changing. So they do it, and it remains just as complicated except that now we have to go thru the learning process again.

What’s wrong with that? It doesn’t show your actual location, it shows the city on a map, and pinpoints the center of the city.

So for me it says Phoenix, AZ but pinpoints somewhere in central Phoenix that I never go to.

Actually, technically, I don’t live in Phoenix. I live in Mesa, AZ

No you can't vote. It's time for a change, so deal with it.

I'm never a fan of "mobile view" on site. I always request desktop version so I have all the features and buttons just as I do when I'm on my Mac but this format does it make easier to read posts on my iPhone Plus.

I don't even see the recent posts bar nor is anything about it available in the setting. Weird.

Oh and is it normal to not get taken to the reply box when you click to quote someone for a reply?

I like the new format but, as an 80 year old, I'd like to see a larger font. IN addition; it seems like we have a considerable amount of extra white space in a reply and post. Ed

They've moved it already back to the left side, and it appears the setting is now missing to turn it off. Now on my iPad posts are all scrunched up to the side.
