You're describing my butt!

I was referring to the knowledge base though
Same thing?
You're describing my butt!
Behaved? Here? The sort of folks who are inclined to not be well behaved would get bored to death here in short order, so that's why we don't see them.![]()
Demonized about four different seasons? Roughly one every 90 days since the beginning of time unless you are in Canada or Russia then its only Fall and Winter year roundMaybe it's just a population ratio. In reality, how many people do you need to keep a forum alive? In the UK there's a lot less of us. And those who enjoy cars, enjoy maintaining them, modifying them and driving them are demonized by the folly that is climate change.
I think that's true of a lot of forums, regardless of subject matter. I used to be on a lot more of them - sports forums, music, photography, model trains, half-a-dozen car forums.... Most are gone now. Some are ghost towns. Where the 1990s had its email lists and Yahoo groups and 2000-2010 had its forums, the 2010+ era has its Facebook, Instagram and whatever else is hot this week. Its unfortunate, really, because none of the new platforms have even a fraction of the Search and archive capabilities the forums do. I suppose the moral is: If you like your forum, post on it often. Keep it alive! Most UK based car forums are now dead, a lot of them shut down. The car-forum era is officially over and it makes me quite sad.
Idk, almost every thread gets sideways in a hurry on most forums.I mod another forum (VW Atlas) as well as a ~7K person FB group (VW Golf Sportwagen/Alltrack). The Atlas forum's only issue was spam/scam stuff but the admin/manager/owner/whatever seemed to sort that out on their side. Not much else to do and I only check on it once every few weeks as it's not a high-traffic site - it was getting old deleting dozens of those every morning and I about said the heck with it before they fixed the software. The FB group is fun and really only requires moderation for spam/scam stuff which has increased a lot in the past year. I've had to start removing scam posts/ban members regularly and we already had a member get taken so it's a real issue unfortunately, I moderate that group daily. Beyond that, moderation on the FB broup is simple, I've only had to remove 3-4 people in the last 5 years of doing it for egregious personal threats etc., no real rules beyond the obvious stuff and it works just fine....I note that here, often the "older more mature crowd" is credited with the success/enjolyment of BITOG but honestly, those folks here seem to struggle the most with being able to keep things on-topic and not let P comments slip in at any opportunity...we rarely if ever see that in the FB group with a much younger (mainly Millenial last I did an age poll) demographic.
The kind that cruise on Holland America?I think it's mostly an older crowd here honestly. Not that anything is wrong with that.

There is NOTHING mature about this old guy.
So I'm old, immature and thick (thin never was).....yup about sums that up.Clearly, this is just another veiled attempt at "Thick or thin."
This and a couple other car forums ARE my social media.I think many of us come from the old school forums, and we still like it here.
Much less drama than social mediaā¦ā¦
That hasn't been my experience in general on the FB groups I belong to as well as several forums, but I mean...that happens here all the time....Idk, almost every thread gets sideways in a hurry on most forums.
A fb groups isn't really a forum though. It's not like on here where someone slams down a 3 paragraph essay. That hasn't been my experience in general on the FB groups I belong to as well as several forums, but I mean...that happens here all the time....
Just a single data point...worthless ! Ha-haI'm 64 years old and incline bench pressed 275 lb. last month. After which my left elbow hurt for three weeks.
While it is difficult to determine the age of members, you can glean some salient details from their posts.I mod another forum (VW Atlas) as well as a ~7K person FB group (VW Golf Sportwagen/Alltrack). Have to say this made me laugh tonight....I've done my fair share of that here/FB/other forums...WHAM-O READ THIS RESEARCH PAPER i JUST WROTE AND BOW DOWN TO MY KNOWLEDGE SCUM-DOGS!!!A fb groups isn't really a forum though. It's not like on here where someone slams down a 3 paragraph essay.
I am constantly banning them from the page I admin.Yikes! I could definitely see that happening, especially on some of the āpart outā car pages.
Youāre not that much younger than me, youāre fineI like these types of forums. I tried to join Reddit forums and stuff man this is a whole lot better and peaceful. I do kinda feel like the odd man out here sometimes though being younger but thatās ok. I enjoy the humor with the older guys same way as at work.
I got an actual invite. I mean I am not the sort of person I would inviteI don't know about the guys on this site. I mean you let me on!!
