Yep, got my wife off of my back. Married guys will know this well. Story: We were invited to a dinner party a week or so ago and as usual, I asked what do I have to wear? Since I wore a uniform most days for the past several years, my wardrobe is basically limited to comfortable wear. Most days I'm in my 3 piece suit (shorts, t-shirt, flip flops). I do have a couple pair of khakis and polos (classic cop training wear), a few button down shirts, a nice suit and ties for court, but thats about it. Picked a pair of khakis and a button down and thought I looked pretty good. Well, of course, my wife didn't. The classic response of "don't you have something nicer?" came quickly. Tried to explain that I'm not a clothes horse and this was about it. She got kinda upset and the barbs were flying. I said hang on. I went and put on my 25 year old Brioni tuxedo from our wedding. It fit....barely. She didn't say a word and off we went. At the party, if was quite apparent that folks were wondering why I was so overdressed. I told everyone that my wife dressed me so this is what we got. Obviously, having been married for almost 25 years, I know I will pay for this stunt and the weight loss is temporary 😁.

Boy am i glad my wife doesn't bother me about what i wear. But i also have a general understanding of what is appropriate to wear depending on situation. I have found if i put in some effort ahead of time I get little push back.

I get asked, "Are you going to wear something?"

The other one I got was packing for a trip with the wife as in we both laid out clothes and started packing simultaneously was -

" Is that what you are bringing " - no I pulled these from the armoire and put them on the bed next to the suitcase because Im NOT bringing these.

I pack lite...her - kitchen sink

I was talking about the kitchen.
I've been to @slo town nekkid part of Bonny Doon; by accident. It is kinda hidden from the main beach. A gal walked up and asked me for a light.

My older brother Greg was part of the Bonny Doon Fire and Rescue volunteer department for years before he got cancer and died at 44. I learned a lot going to their meetings. They were 100% serious during the meeting; disciplined like I have never seen before. Impressive.

Pretty much all the beaches north of Santa Cruz are clothing optional to some extent. Back in the '80s Sue and I ventured to Bonny Doon a couple of times. While there one afternoon, who do I see walk by? One of my colleagues, a woman engineer whom I worked with! She looked great! For years after that she and I exchanged knowing smirks when we saw each other at work. Too funny.

I wore slacks for the first time since early 2020 and WFH, yesterday. Occasion was meeting the new CIO, she is apparently very politically connected within the organization and is being groomed for the top job, I have heard. So I decided to make a halfway decent impression.

Didn't wear a tie though, that just would have been a step too far. :D
